This basement izakaya is classy, innovative, and delicious. Tucked away on a side street of «blue street,»(near Pepper Lunch), you will find a super spot for some fresh Asian Fusion food. Hotaru is truly fancy enough for a date night, but also great for groups of friends. Often there are parties with reservations, so consider planning ahead. I’ve been here a few times, and the experience is the same: attentive service, thoughtful and creative food presentation, and savory dishes. Not to mention that the izakaya seems formal in décor. Even though the prices are reasonable, you feel like you’re in a top-notch spot. Which you are. The menu includes quite a variety: curry gobu chips, kimchi spring rolls, fried rice that cooks in the bowl at your table, French fries, noodles… The list is long. I suppose when I think of an izakaya, I think the 290¥ chain or something of that nature. Hotaru is different.
