If you’re tired and hungry from wandering around Minatomirai, you could do much worse than to pop down into the narrow hallway of restaurants surrounding the century-old dry dock at the base of Landmark Tower. Many of the restaurants are small and popular and fill up fast, but if you’re flexible, you can probably find something yummy. Many, tho’ not all, of the restaurants down there are non-smoking. In the evenings, they do a nifty light show inside the dry dock. It’s free but you need tickets if you want to watch from the inside. You can also watch from up above but the experience won’t be quite as intense. If you’re into history/architecture, there’s a spot near the entrance to one of the women’s restrooms where you can see numbers carved into the wall from when the dry dock was in use as a dry dock.(The dry dock itself seems to have been relocated to align with Landmark Tower so the blocks have likely been substantially rearranged in the process.)
