Sunshine City

A short walk from Ikebukuro Station, a shopping centre with a rather dated hotel at one end.
You can get anything here, latest fashions, accessories, bags, trinkets, make up, toiletries and so on. The upper floors for high end and pricier goods. There is even a shop selling traditional Japanese yukata and kimono outfits.
The lower floor is for less expensive goods. There is a ￥300 shop, selling everything for. ￥300, from tights, knitted hats and gloves, and slippers to curtains and household goods. And even a secondhand shop. All seems very good quality.
In the basement is the food hall, with traditional ramen noodles restaurants, to ice cream parlours and even a MacDonalds.
In the atrium, you may even catch a promotional show from a singer or a band.
It’s a pity the store guide is all in Japanese, so I could have missed out on some shops, that may have been of interest, as there is no way I can walk the whole place in a few hours, it is massive.
I only managed to walk a couple of floors and have lunch, which was quite an experience, and I caused all sort of chaos trying to order, buffet style at the counter, as nothing was in English, except the process of ordering, of which there was a step by step guide at the entrance. I could not even check in as no idea the name of the restaurant, which had delicious ramen and soup, served in a bamboo steamer, but there was no picture on the menu of that particular dish, although after sitting down, I saw someone enjoying it and wished I could have ordered it. The noodles were sublime though, fresh and smooth. Had real difficulty trying to order it with soup, as there was no pictures to point to, only ones without soup! Drove me mad, not being able to speak the language to order.

I can’t believe that we went to so many malls while in Tokyo. Tokyo has so many shops it will drive you bonkers if you’re a shopping addict. No joke.
This is another overrated mall with a catchy cute type of name, but it really doesn’t offer all that much from any of the other half a million malls in Tokyo. Multiple floors, with plenty of shops and plenty of people ready to go shopping. There is a food court, a Ghibli store, the Japanese version of Whole Foods, and all kind of other goodies.
It’s worth a visit, but I do regret spending so much time here.

This place is huge. Lots of stores, restaurants aquarium and 2 amusement centers. The hotel we stayed at was connected to here so we were able to find places to eat easily.

This is a huge shopping mall. Woo! It has a Toys R Us, lots of clothing stores, food options galore and if you have good timing, you might come across a J-​pop band of underage girls with a bunch of old pervy men going crazy for them.

Not the newest shopping center any more, but still one of the biggest in Tokyo. Actually the shop and restaurant selection is quite good and offers something for every taste. For all car lovers, the Toyota Amlux Showroom is another must-​stop in this area. Besides having the possibility of jumping into almost every available model of Toyota, there are even some car simulators available…

J’ai beau avoir été plusieurs fois dans ce centre commercial, je n’y ai jamais fait les magasins.
Cependant, à chaque fois que j’y vais, je me rend au dernier étage de la tour. En effet, pour seulement quelques yens, un ascenseur vous emmèné au 60eme étage de la tour, d’ou vous pourrez tranquillement contempler toute la ville. Il y a en général assez peu de monde donc vous pourrez facilement vous assoir au bar et siroter votre bière en contemplant Tokyo.
En revanche le parc à thème présent dans l’édifice né vaut vraiment pas le détour même pour les fans de manga. En effet, vous payerez l’entrée (déjà trop cher pour ce que c’est) pour vous retrouver dans un parc désert ou les attraction sont encore une fois payante. Je vous déconseille vivement cet endroit.

Vous seriez étonnés de la grandeur de cet édifice, qui est presque une ville comme l’indique son nom «Sunshine City «. Il contient bien de boutiques et restaurants un aquarium, un théâtre, un planétarium…on a l’impression que rien est impossible là-​bas ! Attention: si l’on essaie de tout regarder en une journée, on consommé autant d’énergie dont on a besoin pour une alpinisme du mont Takao. (Je rigole…)
Avec ma cousine, j’y a été plusieurs fois mais je me suis tellement perdu que j’ai plus trop d’envie de faire du shopping là-​bas. Je suis contente de rester dans un magasin plus petit.

I don’t know what to express this.
In this area there are too many kinds of stores and restaurants.
For example, a planetarium, a aquarium, a theater, a museum, an amusement park, a hotel, and so on.
So you can’t enjoy this to full degree in a day.
It is just impossible.
This is located in Ikebukuro.
So many young people come here.
This is one of the best spots to kill time in Ikebukuro.
It is also very famous.
So you can be satisfied with this.
But there are some other ways to enjoy Tokyo.
It is true that this gives you a good stereotyped experience, but it doesn’t mean that you enjoyed Tokyo.
