This is my second time to this location. The first time I ordered donuts which I enjoyed. You line up cafeteria style and get a tray. You put the donuts or cupcakes you like on your tray. However, for this review, I’m going to talk mainly about the N.Y. cupcakes. Mister Donut is trying something new by selling cupcakes now. I think they’re selling cupcakes for a limited time from now until the end of December. So if you want to try it, be sure to try the cupcakes at any location before the end date. They have 3 flavors to choose from: Lemon, Chocolate, and Blueberry. The look and design of the cupcakes and packaging were cute. The first thing I noticed was that the cupcake cakes were inside plastic cups. Secondly, they gave me spoons for the cupcakes. Both seemed weird at first, but I didn’t really think too much about it. Each cupcake is about 194 yen. Also, they have a set where you can buy all 3 flavors for about 40 – 50 yen cheaper. No idea why they put the set at the end, they should put it in the front instead. Because I realized they had a set after I had placed 3 cupcakes of different flavors onto my tray. So I was like, hmm, does that mean I have to pay the single price or the set price? Obviously they weren’t thinking from a customer standpoint, but in the end we asked them if they could make my individual pieces into a set. I’ve heard that Japanese are super strict with restaurant rules where they don’t make any exceptions, so I was kind of expecting a no. But surprisingly I got a yes and they got the set packaging and put my cupcakes into it. It was 550 yen for the set. Now came time to the eating. So remember where I talked about the cupcake being in a cup and the spoon given to me earlier? Well, now I know why. First, I couldn’t get the cupcake out of the cups with my hand. I had to tilt the cup almost upside down so that the cupcake would fall out. Be careful though, things might get messy. But after I got the cupcake out, the cupcake paper tray thing was another problem. Usually the paper material that holds the cupcake together is thin and soft so that you can easily peel it and bite the cupcake. These cupcake paper trays were not thin and soft at all. When I tried to peel it and create a fold so I’d have space to bite, the try would go fold back to originally how it was. In other words, it was thick and hard so it was a nuisance when I tried to eat a cupcake the way it’s supposed to be eaten. So then I remember they gave me spoons. So maybe the way that they want us to eat their cupcakes is directly from the plastic cups it came in with the spoon. SOINOTHERWORDS, I’M EATINGTHEIRCUPCAKELIKE A PARFAIT, YOGURT, ORPUDDING. That’s like telling me to eat pizza with a fork and knife. GTFO. Anyway, as for the taste it was alright. I mean it was less than 200 yen each. Enjoy eating your pudding, oh I mean cupcake.
