After a few days in Tokyo with nothing but Japanese food, me and my friend were homesick for some good old American food and discovered it’s actually pretty hard to find. So we ventured to Hark Rock, which is inside the Ueno train station. It’s not too big but just the right size and atmosphere. I have been to Hard Rocks all over the world and collect their merchandise, so I was thrilled. It’s always great to hear some rock n roll and eat some comfort food. Service was excellent and our food was delicious. I got my fav thing on the menu, the twisted mac & cheese, and it was perfect. I also ordered two drinks and they were delicious. I loved the gift shop too, a great variety. Overall, it quickly became one of my fav Hard Rocks out of the many I’ve visted.

Usually when traveling in other countries, I avoid chain American restaurants like the plague. It’s just not the way I want to spend my time there. However, after many days in Asia, the hubs and I were looking for something that reminded us of home, and a cheeseburger. Or, at least a cheeseburger. When we wandered into the mall where the Hard Rock is, we glanced at each other in skepticism. Did we really want to eat here? But the photo of the juicy burger and fries was more than we could bear, so in we went. I do really like all the cool rock’n’roll memorabilia they have around the various locations and how they are different everywhere. The prices you’re going to pay here for this burger are way more than you might expect if you’re used to the regular prices in the US. Expect about $ 20US for a burger and fries, which was a little hard to stomach. They don’t ask you what temperature you’d like it cooked to, so if you don’t want it well cooked you should mention that. The bartender was friendly and efficient, but when she ran out of the Kirin beer she was pouring, she finished off the pint with Budweiser. I wasn’t super thrilled about that, but figured it might be too complicated to explain so I just let it go. Despite being cooked well done, the burger and its ingredients were fresh and tasty. The fries were well cooked. Overall, it was an expensive attempt at getting food that reminded us of home, but well worth it.

This was a nice location at the train station and staff were really cool to talk with. I got some shirts and my Uyeno-Tokyo shotglass! They even helped me with directions to get to the other Japan HRC’s. The restaurant was spotless! Thank you very much for a sugoi experience!

My bucket list is to attempt to visit all HRC locations! So, I’m now crossing off Tokyo Uyeno Eki, Japan! Agreed, this is by far the smallest HRC I’ve ever visited and I’ve seen quite a few over the years. Hidden inside the Tokyo station it receives a lot of foot traffic from all the patrons going about there business each day. Food is consistent with most of the cafes, staff was friendly and courteous and Rock Shop is located next door with some great gifts.

This was the smallest HRC I’ve ever seen. The food was definitely authentic American, just what I was craving for, however. If you’d been getting sick of those designer burgers that are heavy on gimmicks but light on beef, this is your best bet.
