Local craft beer and ox tongue dishes casual restaurant. I recommend you can chose this restaurant for drinking gathering with close friends and colleagues. There are approximately 15 kind of local beer. 3種飲み比べセット is the most popular drinking menu in this restaurant. Ox tongue dishes are very delicious. Especially, stew with demiglace sauce.

So given that Vector Beer was a short walk away from our Airbnb, we had to stop by after the glowing reviews! They have bar seating outside and a number of small tables indoors. We opted for two beer samplers. For each beer sampler, you choose three beers out of ten listed on the menu(no English for the beer menu and my very basic Japanese can make out«lager»). What’s cool is that the choices keep changing(even through the night), as they run out of certain beers. They get mini kegs from their beer factory next door! We also ordered some food(there is an English food menu!). We got oxtail ham with sauerkraut which was pretty good. We also got sausages which were terrible(there were hard tendosn inside the sausage, is that normal?). And we ordered another dish with sauerkraut and mustard beans, which was okay.

Pleasantly pleased with this little gastropub/microbrewery. They make all sorts of IPAs(maybe 10 – 12 types) and then maybe 6 non-IPA beer. I’m not quite sure what I ordered since there is no english menu for the beer and my Japanese isn’t that great. I was able to communicate with the staff effectively to narrow down my choices but at some point it was just point to a beer on the list and hope for the best. I had the sampler for 1000JPY(3 glasses of maybe a 4 or 5 oz pour), and then got a pint later for 750JPY, I think. Don’t remember the name of the beer that I liked best but it was a dark IPA. As far as the food at the gastropub, I wasn’t disappointed either. The food menu was in English so I didn’t have any trouble with ordering. Lots of choices on the menu. .. I got the fish and chips. Not quite sure what fish was used, but definitely wasn’t Cod or Halibut. .. probably Saba. I was sitting at the bar so I could see/smell what the chef was preparing and if I go back to this little gastropub I’d probably order the chorizo or the fish sauteed in butter.

OK, so I’m picky with beers. Tasting becomes an art rivaling the most stringent wine sniffers. We went for the Happy Hour Special: Choose from among ten custom drafts on tap — craftsmanship from around Japan. Go light with an ale or pilsner or heavy with a lager? Watch those alcohol percentages too! Tonight’s selection included a brew exceeding 8% alcohol level. That one had a really nice, smooth feel. Consuming a pint would definitely kick you later! These samples, a totaling about a pint and a half, will tickle your senses with fragrant aromas, a vivid dance of the carbonated bubbles, and other surprising sensations as the magic liquids slide down your throat. Heavenly! Our«service» appetizer was steamed butter clams gently accented with a subtle white wine sauce. Delicious! Other culinary treats included the fresh raw oysters, and French fries. We were tempted to go for the beef tongue but we were already full. So much to enjoy here: Great beers, delicious food and really friendly staff — lots of smiles! Six stars — I’ll be back again soon!
