I had a great Halloween night at here:) It’s getting colder in Tokyo and less people in Shinjuku Nichome but it’s my routine to stop by and have beer on weekends. Their Halloween deco and party was epic, so I’m looking foward to seeing what they are going to do for X’mas.

You may enjoy this place if you don’t mind paying 7000 yen for a 8 ounce cup of Asahi/Sapporo/whatever and being roughly manhandled by random guys walking by as you stand on the patio sipping your beer.

Maybe you’ve heard of Advocates in the past. Hell, maybe you’re still hearing about Advocates. That’s probably because many people who used to frequent the mix bar on Nakadori down in nichome seem to be unable to bring themselves to call it by the new name, Aiiro Café. But rest assured, they’re talking about this gem. Aiiro reopened with a new interior design complete with a ridiculous Torii gate at the entrance. The temporary Mona Lisas from the interim are no longer creepily staring at you as you make questionable judgment calls, and that disgustingly amazing zebra fuzzy wallpaper is gone. But one vast improvement for sure is the bathroom. It’s been remodeled, and although it now lacks a certain Yayoi Kusama chopping up a dildo air that it once had, the new bathroom is definitely clean and makes for an enjoyable experience instead of pure horror of the old days. Drinks aren’t super cheap, but the staff are some of the coolest people in the city. It’s an easy place to start the night before you may or may not head into the darker parts of town. totally legit.

My regular spot in Shinjuku Nichome had a renewal reopening and is now known as Aiiro Café. The drinks are not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. Atmosphere is nice and welcoming and the staff is lovely! I was a regular here when it was Advocates and will continue being a regular at Aiiro.
