This place is located on the lower floor of the Nomura Financial building. The seating was comfortable and the service was quick. For the price, definitely a great find in Shinjuku. This whole meal cost me less than $ 12USD and it was very filling. The seaweed was life changing, so crunchy! Great option for lunch or early dinner! You have a fan in Florida!

Juicy. Well-fried. Those two words are what make Tekichiya incredibly delicious. Don’t let the location scare you off though. It’s located in the bottom floor of the Nomura financial building, so the people who work there make $$$ and have high expectations. We stumbled upon this place through a recommendation from the hotel we were staying at. At the time I’m writing this review, none of the other reviews were written in English so I’m here to make it know to Unilocalers that this tempura is legit. It’s crispy and almost like getting a hug in your mouth. We went with the set that gives you the option to eat it three ways, because it has a good variety of different tempura. The prawn is juicy and well-fried. Other places may serve you soggy vegetables, but the veggies at Tekichiya are actually fried well. The interesting thing is that once your meal arrives, you’ll be presented with a menu that tells you«How to eat Ten Mabushi». Basically, there are three ways you can enjoy tempura along side some of the additional things that are provided with your meal. — First is simple dipping in tempura sauce. — Second is Ten-Don, or tempura over rice with this sweet(yummy) sauce. — And last, put the mixed tempura(the giant disc looking thing) into a bowl of rice, pour seaweed over it, ask for the fish broth, and enjoy a delicious soupy/congee like way to finish your meal. The price is quite reasonable and service is attentive. Being in Japan, the presentation is always pleasant. And of course, being in a financial building, there is an English menu. We ended up coming back to Tekichiya multiple times because of the proximity to the hotel as well as how delicious it was. Highly recommended for anyone stopping by Shinjuku!
