Excellent. It’s a la carte. So you order the type of meat, it comes by piece or two pieces. It’s like ordering sushi but with meat. YUMMY We tried two different type of wagyu A4 because the A5 was out of stock. It was delicious. Tender and a little fatty. They have multiple sauce at disposal. Lighter, darker, spicier. You can go without sauce also better for the taste of meat. Rice is soft, normal or hard, your choice. You can also choose a few vegetables to grill(peppers, asparagus, lettuce, mushrooms) MONEYMONEYMONEY Most expensive is 300 yen a piece of wagyu Cheaper is 30 yen for veggie DRINKS Sake, oolong, beer. PROS — delicious meat for cheap price — standing up(helps digest and you can actually eat more!) CONS — Very very small. 10 people max. 2 person per grill. But that’s what also make the charm of the place. — can get very smokey — very little English(almost none)

Smallest restaurant ever but so worth the wait. Wagyu beef served like sushi at a bar. You grill and eat. The staff did not speak English but you can point and ask for recommendations. 300 yen for the most expensive cut. Everything was good, can’t go wrong.

It’s very small place. May take up to 10 customers at a time, and you need to know Japanese to order well since they only have Japanese menu on the wall & they don’t speak English. Just give me high quality meat and a grill, and I can take care of the rest. If you don’t mind standing and having your clothes forever infused with the smell of smoke and meat then consider this place. The trade off? High quality and delicious meats at a jaw-dropping value. I’ve had the expensive kobe beef experience in Kobe and, while it was worth it for the presentation and experience, I would definitely prefer Jiromaru in most circumstances. I remember getting the following pieces of meat: 4 pieces of beef heart — amazing quality, texture, and not as bitter or gamey as I’ve had before(I ordered a second portion hence 4 pieces) 2 giant pieces of beef tongue — the cut was thicker than usual, came with it’s own lemon sauce 2 pieces of marinated fatty pork — great 2 pieces of pork neck — great 2 pieces of kalbi — great 2 pieces of fatty kalbi — great Note: for the wagyu below there are actually like 10 different kinds of a4 and a5 wagyu so I asked the staff for recommendations and got the below: 2 pieces of leaner wagyu — the very essence of beef, kind of like a chu-toro of wagyu in that it’s still chewy and isn’t just a tender fat explosion in your mouth 2 pieces of fattier wagyu — This is the tender fat explosion in your mouth. Unbelievably, almost unbearably, rich and flavorful. Must be saved until the end of the meal or it will wreck your taste buds for the rest of the meal. These pieces of wagyu was of the quality that I had in Kobe a long time ago. The best part? I got the bill back and it was only 3600 yen! At current exchange rates, it was around $ 30. Was left speechless and dumbfounded. $ 30 to get full off some of the best quality meats(plus a beer)? Unreal. The only drawback here is that there is no English menu and the staff does not speak English. Which means you must be able to read the placards listing the meats. I was not smart enough to pull out the camera text scanner and see if would read it, but perhaps you can give it a shot. Google translate will work but you will need to be able to enter the kanji and kana. Otherwise, you will need to need to speak some basic Japanese. If you know your cow parts I guess you can make moo-ing sounds and point to parts of your body as well.
This place, and the general concept, is amazing. Top recommendation for this place or similar places if they exist.
