This place is SOMUCHFUN! I should be clear though: you eat here for the atmosphere and the show not the food. The drinks Are great! They’re all themed and usually very aesthetically pleasing and«scary»! It gets very crowded so I would suggest making reservations! You enter the restaurant and are immediately thrown into a dark tunnel maze with ghosts and other scary things around the corner! Once you«make it through» you get into the main waiting area where you are then handcuffed and dragged to your jail cell by a scantily clad adorable Japanese girl. Once you’re at your table they close the cell door until it’s time to order. They use touchpad technology so you can order from your table without having to flag down a staff member. The food is so so but its not terrible. About once an hour the lights go out and the«horror show» starts I won’t give away details but it’s very dark, very loud and for real a bit scary! I’ve been here four times now and had an amazing time every visit! Great spot for first dates and tourists seem to like it a lot! So much fun! For real. *side note* be sure and remember your table number if you have to get up to go to the restroom. It’s designed as kind of a maze and if you forget your table number it will seriously take you 15 – 20 minutes to find your table again. All the hallways are dark and look alike!

ZAROKKUAPPU! Be prepared to be SCARED. …or just laugh at how freaked out your friends are. What can I say? I have a slight guilty pleasure for The Lock Up especially with the gimmicks it tries so desperately hard to pull off. As one of the staple spots here in Shibuya and one that hella gaijin go visit, its a definite must if you are interested in going to a themed restaurant in Tokyo that’s sure to send some chills. I first came here back in 2009 when I studied abroad in Tokyo. Since then, I’ve revisited a handful of times, each time with new friends. The restaurant is known for its scare tactics, haunted hallway corridor as you enter, the grimly definite-fire hazard construction of prison cells that will make you cringe if something goes down. Yet it all seems to work in this crazy, Tokyo nightlife. Be prepared to: — Have someone be handcuffed on your way to your cell(you bad, bad person you…) — Order drinks from beakers, syringes with extra shots coming in the form of pills(around ¥500-¥1200 per drink) — Play sushi roulette and laugh at whoever gets the piece with the most wasabi — Pay a pretty hefty seating charge of ¥500 per person, but hey, it’s Japan — Be scared when the lights go out and hear girls screaming in the background I’ve had some hilarious experiences from here. One major highlight: — One time on New Years Day, my friends and I came and we were bored, so we busted out a vibrator we received in our New Years gift bag and used it as a weapon to the servers when they tried to scare us(of course, nothing too physical). We were refused service after lol(ahhh ごめんね) Downsides: — No nomihodai(飲み放題) option — Food here is not that great, so eat before hand — Gets busy on the weekends So come if you dare. The Lock Up is hilariously entertaining and a great themed restaurant if you’re feeling for a scare, and seeing Japanese girls in cop outfits that you wish could spank you… if you’re into that. Accessible from Shibuya Station.
