Excellent beer selection and great atmosphere. I didn’t eat here either time I came, but there’s a nice mix of fairly western foods. Get the flight, you won’t regret it!

Out of all the bars I wanted to visit during our Japan trip, Spring Valley Brewery was on the top of the list… mainly because of their 1200 yen(~$ 10) beer flights. The presentation is so pretty! Japan sure knows how to make everything pleasing to the eye! — 496: IPA? IPL? Pale Ale? Our signature beer 496 is not like any existing style of beer. Savor the perfect balance of he flavorsome, full bodied taste. — Copeland: Named after William Copeland, the founder of Spring Valley Brewery in Yokohama established in 1870. This authentic pilsner is our origin, DNA, and pride. — In the Dark: An extremeley rich and smooth dark beer without burnt like flavor nor astringency. Matches deliciously with meals, sweets and chocolates. — On the Cloud: Fruity wheat malt beer brewed with a very rare Nelson Sauvin hop, Perfectly match with salads and seafoods, just like a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. — Daydream: Definitely worth trying for this Japanese art. A acombination of sophisticated citrus aroma of Yuzu peel, with a hint of spice from Sansho pepper. invented from our brewer’s daydream. — Jazzberry: raspberry brewed together with malt and hop met with the magic of wine yeast. A brilliant match with a grilled meat for a refreshing aftertaste. Depending on which beer you want to enjoy after trying this flight, their pints are around 700 yen(~$ 6). This place is really fun to grab dinner, enjoy beers, or a combination of both! My group had a ton of fun… and we even made friends with one of the servers Cali. He was so cute, funny, and just an awesome server! Kanpai!

Spring Valley Brewery reminds me of brew houses along the west coast of the United States, chill music and great beer. They have an area just for reservations and believe me you are going to want to make a reservation because this place gets packed during the week. SVB has six signature beers the 496, Copeland, In the Dark, On the Cloud, Daydream, Jazzberry. The one I had was Daydream and it was phenomenal. You could taste the citrus and pepper, but it wasn’t overwhelming. Come out with friends and try the Pairing Experience, you won’t forget it.

Went on a Friday at like 9pm. I made a reservation just in case, but there were some open tables here and there. They have good selections of beer and good food. The interior looked really clean and I loved it. If their food was a little bit more reasonable, I totally would’ve given them 5 stars.

We were visiting Tokyo from New York, so were a bit skeptical about trying this place at first since New York has a ton of microbreweries, however this place exceeded our expectations. They have 6 different beers on draft from different brew masters. Each had a very unique taste, unlike anything we tried before. Our favorites were the«Daydream», «Jazzbery», and«In the Dark». We started off with a sampler of each and then ordered full glasses of our choice and two different kind of pizza. All delicious! We were very impressed considering that there is good pizza on every corner in New York. Would definitely recommend this place, 5 stars all day long!

A super cool craft beer restaurant in Daikanyama. So this place is operated by Kirin. You know, one of the three major beer companies that competes with Sapporo and Asahi. Kirin is famous for their standard lager beer called«Ichiban Shibori». You can get Ichiban Shibori at many of the Izakaya around the town. You could argue that these giant breweries are what is killing the growth of Japanese microbreweries. Here at Spring Valley Brewery, you won’t find Ichiban Shibori. They pretend to be a real microbrewery. Well, I hate to admit it, but their beer is very tasty! I really enjoyed«496», «On the Cloud», «IPA#1», and«Amber Ale». FOOD: All their steaks uses US Beef, which is my choice of beef. Atmosphere: I agree with other reviews that suggests that you sit at their 1stFL table, which is where they have all those brewery equipments showcased. Most of their seating is on the 2nd floor, which was nice, but just ordinary. Sound wise, when it was full house like the night I went, it could get a bit loud. On a nice summer night, their outdoor terrace seating might be good. All in all, a great place to enjoy beer and steak. I highly recommend Spring Valley Brewery. P. S. They also have a branch in Yokohama, near their Kirin Beer Factory. Tabaco: Completely non-smoking Price: about 5000 yen per person.

My husband and I came here wanting to get away from the typical shibuya madness(our hotel is right next to the shibuya train station). We saw this on Unilocal and decided to try it and was pleasantly surprised to find that it’s tucked away on a residential quiet area. It’s a rather large modern space and has a great airy feel. The portion sizes of the god is a tiny bit on the small but the beers are decently priced(at least compared to NYC prices!) the beers, on the other hand, were great! Really unique brews that incorporates traditionally Japanese ingredients. Great hidden spot away from the lights and noise of shibuya crossing!

Beer tasting for only 1000 yen?! Really nice place. Up market, in a lovely area of town, good food… But… Cheap!!! Really impressed with the staff, the overall quality of food/drinks, and layout of the restaurant. Definitely making this place one of my usual locations!

Beer: Hefeweizen(called On the Cloud if I remember right) was actually really nice. Raspberry beer(although called a fruit beer) was far too beery to actually be a fruit beer. Needs work. Food: truffle fries were really tasty, but our pizza(the marinara, a margarita with anchovies) was under-seasoned and VERY underwhelming. Ambience/Location: really nice spot, I’m sure it’s the selling point of the place. Service: Shockingly bad. Actually some of the worst service I’ve experienced in Japan. We arrived at 5 pm for a beer and some snacks. The hostess(in English) let us know that we could get a seat but«need to be out by 6:30.» A touch of attitude, and not a good start. Why not offer us the bar? We sat at our table a good six or seven minutes without any attention with servers walking past our table constantly– they were not even busy at this point. I flagged a server down(she said I’ll be over soon, again a touch of attitude in her voice), and on arrival, proved she had little to no beer knowledge whatsoever. This is a microbrewery, the staff should ALL be trained up on the suds they serve. I wanted an IPA, she said they didn’t have one(turned out they did, just not labelled on the menu). Ended up with the«white beer». We had to call someone over to ask for water, plates, and napkins. This might be a new place, but the lack of good service was off putting– a microbrewery should be inviting, easy going, fun. This place is none of these. Too bad since there is such a void in the Japanese market for a good brewpub.

Best of the new craft beer spots in Tokyo. Good surprisingly good too. Nice beer terrace. Expect to queue if you don’t have a reservation; this place is definitely«hot» right now.

Good food, good environment, good beer. Even with a big, two floor space with some outside seating, you’ll need to make sure you make a reservation at least a week in advance or you’ll be waiting in line for a while. Menus are English-first, so no need to worry about that.

Awesome new craft and custom brewery with really good food as well. We had to wait about 40 minutes or so on Sunday afternoon to get a seat inside, although it appeared that you could get seated outside right away if you preferred(they also take reservations). There are two floors of indoor seating. I’d recommend sitting on the first floor, which seems to have a better view of the brewing action. This place is kind of special, because you can not only watch them brewing craft beer in the facility, but you can also customize it to your liking. I ordered one with twice the amount of hops, which is the recommended customization. You can start with that and add even more hops if that’s how you like it! I suspect it starts to taste less like beer and more like grass if you put too much in, so be careful. Also don’t forget to try out a beer flight of custom brews, each of which has a unique flavor. There was even one which changed flavor and got more sweet as its temperature leveled out to room temperature. The waiter who served us the beer flight was really great about giving an extra effort to explain the flavor of each beer in English, which we could both understand. Usually waiters and waitresses default to speaking only to my friend who is a Japanese native speaker, making her do the translation. Food was also good, and had reasonable prices. I had a margherita pizza, shrimp ajillo(order bread separately so you can dip it in), a cheese sampler and some other items. Everything was good, but the ajillo was extra good. Would definitely recommend that. There were a few forgivable hiccups, probably due to the crowds and the newness of the place. We initially ordered some beer that never arrived, so we had to re-order it. We also got a different style pizza than what we ordered, so we had to wait for them to cook a new one. They apologized and tried to make things right though, so it all worked out in the end. I think those problems will become more rare as they hit their groove.
