A damn good croissant and pain au chocolat just inside the main entrance of Ebisu station but not within the area that requires a ticket. Like most places in train stations, it’s very small, particularly so even for Japan, and there isn’t really a menu, just a pastry case. The signs are in French and Japanese but are very small so it was difficult to read. Some pastries are repeated in every section of the case, like croissants, while others are not, so it was a bit hard to tell what was unique and what was a repeat. For two pastries was an expensive ¥620, roughly $ 5.5. For pastries that’s surprisingly highly priced. Thankfully they were delicious. Easily one of the bed croissants I’ve ever had. The pain ai chocolat was also delicious; the chocolate was high quality and had actually melted during baking, which often doesn’t happen in lesser products. Absolutely a bit of a splurge for a snack but also absolutely worth the price. Worth seeking out and taking home on the train.
