Haha had lots of fun in this weird place. You order sushi on tablets, then get it delivered with cool robot trains :) The quality is not bad for the price!

This is my go to in Shibuya, if you are looking M for something fast. You order from the tablet and your food will come shooting out on a disk. The maximum dish you’ll get each round is 3. This place is usually pack, but he wait time isn’t that long. The great thing about this place is that you can see your tab every time you add another dish. This place is very fresh, so you don’t need to worry about the freshness of the fish.

This is really quite cute. The sushi is served to you via a delivery train or should it be conveyor belt? It has three levels, upper middle and lower. You order on a screen and can change the language to English, minimum staff contact. After you made the order, the train/belt will have the plate delivered to you. After which you press on the blinking button on your screen to show that you have collected your order and the train will move back into the kitchen. But don’t make the mistake of pressing the button before collecting your food or it will zip away before you get it. It’s super efficient ha ha. Saw that happen to a bunch of girls and heard them scream. Quite hilarious actually. After you finish your meal, just press the«Cheque» button and bring the numbered board to the counter to pay.

If you’re looking for amazing fresh sushi, this is not your best place. If you’re looking for a unique fun experience, definitely check out Genki Sushi. There’s usually a wait so don’t come extremely hungry. However, each person is only allowed a maximum sitting time of 45 mins so it does move quickly. You enter and sit down to a touch screen panel and a conveyor belt in front of you. There’s a case of matcha powder and cups at each station and a hot water faucet. You can drink as much matcha tea as you wish. When you’re ready to eat, you just follow the instructions on the screen. You can order up to 3 items at once. Their menu includes sushi Nigiri, rolls, udon, tempura, fried chicken, spring rolls, soup and desert. I always get the Nori miso soup. It’s not amazing but it’s pretty good and helps wash down the sushi. I’ve tried the medium fatty tuna, regular tuna, conger eel, soft pressed eel, and salmon. Like I said, to Japanese standards, it’s not the top quality and the rice isn’t great. But compared to American standards, it’s about the same as a typical sushi restaurant. It’s just a very fun experience to watch the plates fly down the conveyor belt and see the unique characters that eat here.

Talk about innovation and efficiency. Imagine a personal touchscreen ordering system with sushi zooming on a fast track right to your seat. Hear a bell? That’s the sound of sushi delivery. Pick up your plate, touch the screen saying order received, and you’ll see the tray retreat back to the kitchen. Leave it to the Japanese to create something as brilliant as this. The experience is not to be missed when in Tokyo. Put your name down and wait patiently outside to be called. A 45-minute limit is given once you’re seated but with that amount of time, I promise you’ve already had your fill. The plates range from ¥127 to ¥507 depending on how premium the fish is. Keep in mind, this is a fast-food sushi chain so don’t be coming here expecting top quality. I had my heart’s content with all the uni, chotoro, and otoro which cost ¥340 a plate. Dirt cheap! I’d say now’s the time to experiment on certain items you’ve been wanting to try as it is very affordable. A tip, steer clear from the salmon and stick with the tuna. The menu on the screen will also state if it has wasabi or not which I find very helpful. Wasabi packets, soy sauce, pickled ginger, matcha powder, cups, and a hot water dispenser are all to your avail at your table. Servers? What servers? You won’t be needing one at this self-service establishment. Well, except for your beverage order. When you’re done, checkout from your touchscreen then head on out to the cashier with your tab and pay. Isn’t that cool?

Talk about super convenient and at a good price– this place is the bomb! I came here for dinner, an early dinner, so I experienced no wait time(think 18:00)– however you have a 45 minute limit as to how long you can sit in, so maximum wait time would be 45 minutes. You order your food off a table screen placed in front of every seat. This makes it easy for if you needed to split the bill with a friend, they can order their dishes and have it billed to them and you can order your dishes billed to yourself. The food then comes from a conveyor belt(you will be alerted by the tablet) and at a really quick pace too. I think that the sushi here was delicious and fresh(except for the ikura here, did not like the ikura). Highly recommended if you want to watch your wallet too since you can check on the total of your orders at any time(I, however, went overboard hehe…). Most of the orders here are around 120 yen(pre-tax). Occasionally, a game will pop up on your screen where you spin the wheel to win a prize(a dessert). I did not win anything but the guy next to me won a parfait ;-;

Fun and interactive experience w/yummy food at affordable prices. You order off of a screen and it’s individualized. You can place an order of up to 3 items at a time and when ready, it’s delivered in front of you on a conveyor-like plate. You can play games to win vouchers. All of the items I ordered tasted fresh. They give a free you to each person as you pay.

J’s friends were in Tokyo visiting and we came here to grab dinner because they hadn’t had sushi yet in Japan. The sushi is okay, but I wish we could have picked a better sushi bar for them. THISISNOT A REVOLVINGSUSHIBARANDTHEREIS A TIMELIMIT! There is a Japanese and English sign on the door. YOUMUSTWRITEYOURNAMEDOWNONTHELISTINSIDE. When we first arrived, we lined up behind these people because we thought there was a line to just go in. I saw the sign and realized that we needed to put down our name. They also say that it is a maximum 45 minute wait(because of the time limit to eat). We originally thought this was a revolving sushi bar and we wanted J’s friends to experience one while here in Japan. Unfortunately, this isn’t a revolving sushi bar; you just order sushi off the monitor and the sushi comes to you on a little train like in all the other revolving sushi places when you order off the touch screen. However, there is a 45MINUTETIMELIMIT to eat… If this was a revolving sushi bar, I can maybe do 45 minutes. But this is a place where you order off the touch screen with a max order of 3 orders. We were a party of four, so of course 45 minutes was barely enough time to eat. It means there were four of us that were starving that needed to order off one touch screen menu. The food does come quickly though, but you have to keep ordering without really getting to sit down and enjoy the food annoyed me. I regret coming here and bringing J’s friends here. We had to keep track of the time and I feel like we didn’t really get to enjoy the sushi like at other sushi bars that J and I have been to. The restaurant also doesn’t tell you about the 45 minute time limit to eat until your name has been called and you’re seated… For a sushi bar in Tokyo, I understand that it will get packed but 45 minutes to eat is not enough time, especially since it’s not a revolving sushi bar and you can’t just pick the sushi up off the conveyor belt. I like how the owners chose the word«Genki»(meaning happy, well) for their restaurant name but chose a sad/angry face to represent it. It’s ironic and funny, but that sad face is what I’ll always remember about this restaurant. There are way too many sushi bars in Japan to go back to one as crappy as this one.

For our first meal in Tokyo, which was also our Christmas meal, Stephanie S. and I decided to get ¥120(~$ 1) sushi at Genki Sushi! I’ve heard that even«cheap» sushi in Japan is better than the expensive stuff we have in America… and it’s totally true. Although this wasn’t the best sushi we had in Japan, the experience was really fun! When you enter, they give each person a clipboard with a number, which is the seat that you’re supposed to sit in. They enable the electronic menu on the screen, and you can start ordering! For those that don’t read Japanese, you can switch your menu to English. Flip through every page of every section so you can see all the options! Me: I’m so excited! How many plates do you think we can finish? Steph: You know this isn’t all you can eat, right? Me: Well, it’s a dollar each, so that’s basically the same thing… Besides nigiri, you can also order sushi rolls, udon, miso soups, dessert, beers, and more. Each person can order up to three things at once. When it’s ready, it will come out on one of the conveyor belts right in front of you. After you pick up your plate, press the blinking button, and the serving plate will return to the kitchen. Although the quality of the fish isn’t the best(but it’s still good!), the price definitely allowed me to venture out and try a bunch of different seafood items I haven’t tried before! You can check your bill on the computer screen before you pay at the cashier. Technology for the win!

What an amazing experience! The boyfriend and I came here hoping for some good sushi for a late night snack for our second dinner on our last night in Shibuya. There was a line up outside so we figured this was a good pick. 20 minutes later, we were shown our seats and we were surprised to find that this restaurant was completely self serviced. You order your dishes on a screen and they come on a conveyor belt, stopping directly in front of you. Dishes ranged in prices but I remember everything to be completely reasonable. My favorite here was the seared toro. I must’ve had a million pieces. It was to die for! They had SO much selection here, it was amazing. Anything from appies, to mains like rolls, nigiri, sashimi, tempura, udon, etc all the way up to the dessert. Tea is self service with a hot water tap in front of you with green tea powder. Super efficient place! We didn’t talk to a single person until we had to go up to pay. Definitely an amazing experience that we came home to tell all of our friends about!

Genki Sushi isn’t great sushi but it is definitely«fun» sushi — there is an UNDENIABLE feeling of joy when you order your sushi via a touchscreen menu and have it get subsequently rocketed to you several minutes later via conveyor belt. And while the sushi ain’t great — I found the hamburger patty sushi to be novel in a disgusting kind of way and the spicy tuna to be a bit dry if still tasty — for the ridiculously cheap prices you pay for each roll and the large variety of sushi to choose from, you really can’t complain much. Needless to say, you’d be paying more in the USA for the same quality of sushi. It also helped to have legit matcha green tea powder and a hot water dispenser at your service to wash down your tea and keep you cozy after lining up outside on a chilly night. A few minutes walk away from the hustle and bustle of the famous crosswalk near Shibuya Station, Genki Sushi is located in an alleyway that is definitely worth your time if you’re looking for dirt cheap sushi and a fun way of eating it that you could only find in Japan.

Come here more for the experience, and less for the sushi. I’m sure the sushi I had back at the states actually tasted better than most of what I had here, with the exception of the fatty tuna and uni here. But then again, the prices are very cheap here and you do get what you pay for. I like how your order comes straight to you via a delivery belt. Place up to 3 orders in 1 go and it will come either all together or whichever is ready first. When your order comes, you can press the lit button on your right to send the tray back to their kitchen. I personally didnt think the fatty salmon was any good, their squid tentacles were not fresh and the rainbow roll had way too much mayo. What I loved is how they still had personal tea stations and the bill is clearly visible on your screen. So after you’re done with your meal just select check out and bring your clipboard to the front to pay. Overall a fun sushi spot to check out, but not the best sushi around Shibuya.

Genki is the perfect sushi spot for a quick, inexpensive meal. You can order sushi from a tablet and its delivered to your seat via a series of monorails. Fun place for kids, if for no other reason than the delivery system. The sushi ranges from pretty good to borderline inedible. Not because the fish is bad, but a few dishes are so completely covered with mayo there’s no other flavor. But everything on the menu has a picture so it’s easy to figure out which ones have the mayo. We ordered one to see what it’s like and had to scrape the mayo off just to try it. You can’t bitch about the value. 4 of us ate over 20 plates plus a few rounds of beer and it was just under 6,000 yen(~$ 50!).

Barely an hour after arriving into the city, my husband and I were in line for our first Kaiten sushi experience at Genki! We loved the idea of ordering from the monitor screen(very easy to use with picture for every menu item and division by prices, courses) and watching our plates being delivered through the conveyor belt! For about one US dollar per plate, we were able to sample some of the best tasting sushi/sashimi/nigiri we’ve ever had! Our personal favorites were all the«smoked» nigiri — salmon, tuna, scallop, hamachi — slightly cooked, charred + just the right amount of perfectly seasoned sushi rice. Honestly, my tastebud has forever transformed — it will never enjoy non smoked sushi the same way again. My husband and I blew through 13 delicious plates and only costed us ~$ 21US dollars! If only we didn’t have limited days in Japan, we would definitely come back regularly! Highly recommend Genki to everyone(foreigners and locals) to give their Kaiten sushi experience a try!

This is one of those places you just have to visit if you’re ever finding yourself in Tokyo with a need for eating sushi! I was just in Tokyo with a friend and the last day there we both really wanted sushi. We knew we were going to be in the Shibuya area so i went on Unilocal to see if there were any great sushi places. Genki Sushi came up as one of the first ones and had gotten really great reviews so we thought why not. And woow it was the best choice we could have made! When we came into the restaurant we were immedially seated. We sat next to each other and both had a little screen. We really had no idea what was going on or what to do. The screen presented itself with the option of english language, and we could tell you had to order whatever you wanted on the screen, and then the food would come to you(you could order up to 3 things at a time). After we had made our first order there was a track under the screen where the food came to us on a little tray(imagine a little sushi train on a track). Its the greatest concept! It was only when you ordered drinks that a waiter would come with it. We ended up ordering a lot of different kinds of sushi and the quality was really great! The waiting time for the sushi was almost non existent, because it didnt take more then 2 – 3 minutes before your order arrived. The restaurant was also a good place and cosy atmosphere. There were room for people who wanted to sit alone on single chairs and for groups who could sit in booths together. Not only did the sushi taste good but it was also extremely cheep! My orders was a little over 800 yen in total, which is not more then 55 danish kroners! And i had about 16 pieces of sushi and two colas! Definately a place i wanna visit if i come to Tokyo again!

So glad I found this place in Shibuya! This was a really fun and interactive dining experience. You order your sushi from a touch screen and it comes straight to you in a conveyor belt, no server needed! It’s fun to watch people’s dishes whip past you and it makes you want to order more! The rolls are pretty big so if you’re with someone you could probably share. The rest of the sushi is good, beer is awesome, no complaints! Make sure you play rock, paper, scissors on your touch screen while you’re waiting for your food. If you win, you get a free keychain OR a discount coupon for next time!

Hi-tech sushi of the future! It’s basically a train line of sushi that comes right in front of you. You have a computer monitor in front of you. You pick what you want. Do some clicky click and bam! The food is right in front of you in in a mini train. Let me get his out of the way. This isn’t high quality sushi, but it’s still damn good. It’s also really cheap and convenient. This place can get really packed if you don’t get here early enough, but that’s expected with this sort of place. I really didn’t expect much as it was pretty cheap and seemed kind of tacky, but it worked out in the end. If you like sushi and want it quickly and cheap, then this place is a must for you.

This is one of those things you just have to try when you’re in Tokyo. Conveyer belt sushi is something you see in the U.S. but how about sushi that you order on a computer and that zips to your seat on a high speed track? Very innovative and very Japanese indeed! While the novelty of being able to order all your sushi electronically will bring you in, the price and the generally good sushi will bring you back. Everything is around $ 1-$ 3 and that means you can try a whole lot of items and that means you’ll have sushi plates zooming to you constantly without putting much of a dent in the wallet. It being cheap sushi means the quality isn’t say what you’d expect near the Tsukiji fish market but here you can order just about anything from Salmon to dessert. It really is not bad at all and the selection is expansive. But, who am I kidding, it’s just super fun to order sushi by touch screen and have it zoom out to you in seconds!
