didn’t think i’d be able to have barbacoa again after my first time having it in sao paulo, brazil, back in july! i knew the only locations barbacoa had outside of brazil was in japan and italy, lo and behold, it came up on Unilocal while i searched«yakiniku»(bbq) and i couldn’t wait to take my family there! here are some comparisons with the barbacoa in brazil: 1) price: actually much more affordable in japan! it was 4700 yen(~$ 37) for all you can eat lunch which comes with fully stocked salad and dessert bar, unlimited pao de queijo, after meal coffee/tea, and of course bbq. 2) salad bar: the salad bar was much bigger in brazil, but the japan salad bar had enough variety to keep you happy :) there’s also feijoada. 3) dessert bar: desserts were not included in brazil while it was in japan. i loved the flan :) they even had a soft serve machine! 4) bbq: for the most part good, there was an off the menu steak cut the waiter brought us that had us yearning for more, but i don’t remember what it was :( 5) pao de queijo: lol, i chuckled when the waiter brought them over because they are much SMALLER than the ones in brazil. they’re not as fluffy compared to the ones in brazil and they tasted a little dense. pao de queijo means everything to me and they didn’t meet my expectations. overall, for the price it’s definitely worth visiting, but it is nowhere compared to the locations in brazil. easy to get to and it’s tucked in the alleys of omotesando, which is a great shopping location to wander around post meal. p. s. make sure you make a reservation or you won’t be able to dine until 1:30 /2:00 pm on wkday.
