An example is a garlic peeler that is used in a way where you don’t have to physically touch the garlic so your hands won’t smell. Another clever little item is a silicone lemon! Well it looks like a lemon. It’s a lemon squeezer that catches all the pits but let’s all the juice run through it for easy use without any mess. Easy to clean and compact to storage. This is a store that is a mix of a container store with more other random items. The totes were cheap and nice gifts to bring back to the States.

A typical«Zakka» shop near Omotesando Hills. There really isn’t a good English word for«Zakka». Dictionary translation is «miscellaneous goods». What the heck is that, right? Well, Japan is filled with Zakka-ya stores. It is a store filled with«cute» items for your household. I wouldn’t call it «stationary» store, because although they do carry cute pens, notebooks, etc, they also have kitchen goods, bathroom goods, decorations, gift items and such. The target demographics of these Zakkaya is young females. Hence, it needs to be trendy and«kawaii». Most importantly, it needs to be affordable. At Awesome Store, you will find many many«kawaii» items at «awesome» prices. Many of their items are Nordic influenced design. Hanging out here, it reminded me of a section in IKEA. When Awesome Store first opened, there was a line out the door. This is a common occurrences at new shops in Harajuku/Jingumae/Omotesando area. This store will undoubtably compete with Flying Tiger Copenhagen and ASOKO. I don’t fit the target demographics for these stores(unless I take some reverse aging pills and conduct an operation), but I like Awesome store a bit more than its competitors. Things here don’t look as cheap as items I found at other cheap«Zakka» stores. This is a great place to go for Christmas gift, Birthday gift, etc. Even if you don’t buy anything(which is often the case for me), it is still fun to spend time here looking at interesting items.
