Anyone on a Tokyo gastronomic adventure focused on baked goods should put Signifiant Signifié in Sangenjaya high up on her list. This fancy bakery has some crazy flavors, some highlights from my most recent trip included red wine loaf packed with fruits and nuts and flatbread with cheese and edamame.(For the record, everything I tried here was delicious but it doesn’t come cheap with half-loaves of bread ringing up at around ¥700.) The staff at Signifiant Signifié are super nice and will give you samples as you decide what you’re having. If you want a cup brewed from single-origin beans with your levain, head across the street to Nozy Coffee.
