Epic Japanese curry in a laid back, hipster-meets-surfer vibe restaurant in Shimokitazawa. After hours of walking around and working up a hunger on a mild winter day, a stick-to-your-bones meal of curry over rice was just what the doctor ordered. Like most restaurants in Tokyo, there isn’t much in the way of seating, and if you’re above the normal BMI of average humans, you’ll be pretty uncomfortable while you eat. If I were an inch taller and 15 pounds heavier, it would have been an issue. Luckily I don’t fit that description, so I was left with no other option but to simply enjoy this tasty comfort food staple. There are options for both meat eaters and vegetarians alike, so no mater your dietary preferences, you’ll find plenty to nosh on. Washed down with a cold Japanese beer, and it’s as satisfying a meal as you’ll have while in the neighborhood.
