Okay so my experience with Japanese curry is limited to say the least but omg, how delicious! I got a beef katsu with spinach curry with spice level 4 and it was so delicious that I could almost not believe it. The katsu was perfectly fried and the curry was incredibly flavorful. I handle a good punt of spiciness but 4 was actually just right, at the edge of where it becomes painful bug just the right Lendl of heat. Quick gracious service, English menu, minimal wait during busy weekend lunch hour and very good portions — this place leaves little to complain about. Extra points for plug outlets for almost every seat, it’s Japan after all. Recommend strongly.

I was introduced to CocoIchi by a Japanese friend in Los Angeles. It is a big curry chain with locations in several countries. I find it pretty reliable, usually I get eggplant, spinach and vegetable. The chicken can be good but I had a couple mediums. I think the tonkatsu is popular but I have not tried it. As with all cocoichi, you can vary the rice quantity, spice level, and set of toppings to your liking — maybe the best ‘have it your way’ I have seen in Japan, haha. I’m sure you can read more detailed descriptions at other locations, but this one is at my home station. It is inside the station, next door to Odakyu OX grocery. The station has plenty of bicycle and car parking. You can get takeout and delivery I think. Note to Unilocal: the food category is wrong(says Indian), name is misspelled at ‘carry’, and location on the map is wrong(it should be inside station)
