What a delight! The gyoza are so tasty and we tried 2 varieties! The pork dumplings with ponzu were to die for and the shrimp gyoza melted in your mouth. We also had an order of fried rice which was probably the best we’ve EVER had. They were very helpful and understanding when I told them about my nut allergy.

Great starter meal for a very long tour around Kyoto’s famous spots. If you plan for a whole day activity around here, including this on your lineup of activities would help in storing energy. That’s due to their menu of using beef! That’s great for stamina.

Great range of gyoza. Check our the black pepper ones. Staff are friendly and a couple can converse in English. They have really good and cheap set meals for parties. Highly recommended.

So good we came twice! The ONLY reason I’m not giving this a standing ovation and 5 star review is because the second time we went, they were out of chicken… all chicken… no dumplings, no nothing! Got the veggie dumplings that night, pretty good, but not as good as the chicken dumplings. My friends got the shrimp dumplings, the pork dumplings, and the fried chicken. They ate every bite and raved about it! I tried the fried chicken… probably the best I tried in japan, bit be warned its greasy, mostly thigh meat, and And they leave the skin on(as most of Japan’s fried chicken seems to be). Super friendly staff!

Are you hungry for Yummy Gyoza in Kyoto ?? There are many nice Gyoza places in Kyoto but why did Mari recommend this Tigar Gyoza Hall? Because they provide great Gyoza? Yes, but it is not the only reason. You’d like to know what you are eating? Unfortunately, most of the case in Japan, You don’t know what you are eating because there is no explanation in English. So here is a solution for you. The Tiger Gyoza Hall. The head chef, Hiroto speaks fluent English. He will give you the right advice on what to eat at Tiger Gyoza Hall. They offer a lunch set menu which include huge Gyoza plate, rice and soup. Thick dough and juicy filling. This Gyoza is very different from what you normally have at Ramen restaurant, though it is simply good. I haven’t tried ‘Tan tan men’(spicy ramen) but I will try it next time!
