OMG!!! For all of you who are visiting Kyoto, you have to, i mean have to come to this place located here at Nishiki Market Street and you have to try the Tofu or Soybean Donut’s served hot off the press and let me tell you, once you eat these little morsels of heaven you will be in a foodie trance and you will be doing the Happy Dance from Kyoto all the way back to your hotel room. They Tofu Donut’s are so soft and light and are so delightful because they are not overly sweet and they are simply perfect. You have to eat these Tofu Donut’s right then and there and no place else. I have been coming to this shop for the past 18 years because they having nothing like this in Hawaii. I love Japan because places like this are so hard to come by here in Hawaii and that’s the beauty of coming here to Kyoto. I have to sink my teeth into these Tofu Donut’s at Konnamonja every time i visit Japan. This is another one of my go to places when you are in the Nishiki Market area. They are absolutely devine…

I saw this place on the Travel channel and we had to visit here since we were in Kyoto. Well let me tell you it was worth the trip! One of my favorite little spot in one of my favorite cities. Whenever I’m back in Kyoto we will return here for sure. Delicious!

There seemed to be a kind of proverb, «You should not eat Tofu or bean curd in Kyoto.» I agree to it. It is just expensive, only Tofu provided in Japanese restaurant. Its cost is low. But this doughnut made from soy milk is awesome. Fluffy, light, not so sweet… it is not heavy for your stomach. You should buy one soon after it has been fried. It is a little difficult to have just fried hot one. Buying ones as souvenir is advisable. Only take-away. I often see some customers stand in front of the shop, while eating the doughnut.
