Massive bowls of udon! Really quite tasty and very filling. Price is reasonable 1000 – 1700 yen per bowl.

This place serves really good udon. It’s a chain but it does serve a mean bowl of udon. Located just a short walk from Glico Man, this place is easy to miss unless you’re looking for it. The menu has a pretty comprehensive udon selection including sukiyaki, curry, kitsune and tempura udon. In addition to udon, you can get various rice bowls, maki sushi and dessert. As pictures show, the bowls of udon can be huge. We went at lunch and service was a bit slow. Despite the wait, it’s otherwise a good place for udon in the Dotonbori area. I’m not sure if there’s an English menu but there are pictures in the menu itself.

The udon is delicious. Be aware that there are two menus, one for hot dishes and one for cold. They are both in Japanese and no one will tell you if you’re ordering a cold soup. Ours came with an iceberg on top. I could tell that the noodles were delicious and so was the broth, but it was freezing cold which is just not what we expected and the wait staff didn’t warn us. Would try again with the hot menu.

Tsurutontan is a stylish udon chain with a dozen outlets spread across Osaka and Tokyo. I love kitsune udon. It ranks among my favorite things to eat. At Tsurutontan I was served the biggest kitsune udon I have ever seen in my life and it was delicious! If I’d been able to resist the call of kitsune, I’d have chosen the curry udon. One of my colleagues ordered it and I was partially jealous the entire time I watching him slurping it. Tsurutontan also has a wide variety of other items beyond noodles such as pink sushi(a bit gimmicky to me) and udon ice cream(looked better than it tasted, sadly). They also have packaged boxes of noodles and their accompaniments. If I’d had more room in my luggage I would have taken one or two home with me!

If my acquaintance of Tokyo comes to Osaka, I want to take her to this udon shop. It offers not only the udon but also Donburi or Sushi, but I recommends udon if you come here. It is available whether Udon is cold or hot. I had eaten only warm one, but at first was surprised at the size of the bowl. There is the double of the bowl of common udon. It is totally like a bowl which«Hachikaburi Hime» or the princess wearing a bowl put on. The udon is chewy and fluent and comes into a throat slipperily. The soup stock has a feeling that the taste of the bonito worked, but it is full of flavors and is smart plainly. There are curry and the cream-based udon, too. I like the curry udon but I do not have the courage to challenge the cream udon because the cream is suitable for pasta. This Japanese-style restaurant has a tasteful atmosphere, which makes me relaxed. The price is slightly high in comparison with other restaurants, but there is no help for it when it is this quality. The person who has not eaten here should come once.
