Tarafuku Uokin

Uokin is famous for 6 assorted sashimi at such a low price… Is what I heard. Uokin group has over 20 restaurants in Tokyo and the first one is at Shinbashi. Shinbashi is so close to Tsukiji (known for huge fish market) and they go there daily to get their fish and seafood since the opening of the first restaurant.
The night we went for this particular location, we were working at Narita and wasn’t sure what time we can get back to Tokyo. Since we couldn’t reserve ahead of time, One of us had a list of all Uokin restaurants and started calling them one by one as soon as we boarded an express train bound for Tokyo.
This restaurant is so small, 6 counter seats, about 12 tables comfortably sit four or they squeeze 6 people at a table. We ordered one dish each from today’s special menu and I wasn’t disappointed.
My favorite was kinmedai. I tasted dashi and mirin in broth they cooked.
6 assorted sashimi was great. It’s Uokin style, if you order 6 assorted, you will get 12 different sashimi.
Six of us in the group ate so much and had lots of drinks. At the end of dinner, I was surprised at our bill. We are in Tokyo. Cost more here than countryside. They offer fresh ingredients at non-​Tokyo price.
I highly recommend ordering from today’s special menu and add their famous assorted sashimi.

I came in with high expectations but the restaurant was just good, not superb.
The best dish was their kuronodo.
I’ve had better food at izakaya in Fukuoka.
