This restaurant features soy and miso products from its parent company, Suju Masayuki Shoten, located in Karuizawa. There is an emphasis on regional flavors from the areas around Nagano — one server referenced Shinshu, an old name for Nagano and some adjacent prefectures. There are retail products for sale displayed at the front along with a display of bags of rice used in the restaurant. The restaurant has treetop view that overlooks the garden terrace at the back of Tokyo Midtown The look of the interior is American Casual Bistro, the young servers dressed in black. The menu is modern Japanese, wonderfully illustrated by Tofu Miso, a small square of tofu miso butter to be spread on grilled buttered baguette slices. The Yasai Moriawase, fresh seasonal vegetables on one plate and three spoonfuls of different miso on another plate, is a must-have starter. Sukui Tofu is wedges of silken Shinshu tofu draped with the company’s sweet red miso. Anything that says misoyaki is probably good. And the rice set of tonjiru and Nagano rice is hearty. This place is not an inexpensive family restaurant. Hey, this is Tokyo Midtown. Families are welcome, but they’re looking to attract young couples and small groups looking for food that goes with drinks. Be warned that the place can get loud, the grills can overwhelm the ventilation, and dessert is not a good value.

Great spot for Japanese food where miso-flavored dishes are the specialty. Recommended lunch set offers a variety of little dishes with one of the main dishes. I had miso flavored mackerel and hubby had sashimi and they were both tasty. The sashimi was better though, really delicious with great wasabi. They had no problem with us bringing in a stroller and there is plenty of room so we didn’t feel like we were imposing. We’ll be back!

Suju Dining Rokkaku Japanese brasserie is fun! Location is inside the Midtown Plaza Mall. Food is good, strong emphasis on miso with a nice selection of beer, sake, soju, etc! My eyes are certainly larger than my stomach. I had ordered what felt like 1⁄3 from their extensive menu. I recommend sitting at the bar as it’s always the best seat in the house. Of course, if you are on a date you might appreciate the romantic view more. ;) Friendly service and good value. The perfect place to kick start an evening with friends. What I ordered: — Roasted Beef: Seared rare Japanese beef and thinly sliced with special soybean miso(Order this!) — Tofu Miso: Baguettes with special tofu miso butter(Order this!) — Duck Miso Yaki: Grilled duck marinated with homemade miso(Good!) — Harasu Yaki: Grilled salmon belly with salmon roe(Good! On the lighter side with flavor) –Teppan Katsu: Rolled pork and cheese cutlet served in a hotpot with Miso Sauce(Good! Wish all pieces were filled with cheese and pork. You get two pieces filled with cheese and the rest just pork katsu) — Beef Miso Yaki: Grilled beef marinated with homemade Miso(Okay. Been spoiled with tender meat in Japan and this was the most tough. Still better tasting then many inexpensive beef offered in the US) What you need to know: — Ask for an English menu, there is a fully translated version — Views are beautiful — The sign is in Japanese — You may also purchase miso in jars/bags — They have pottery for sale — When you order the sake tasting, they leave the bottles out for you to remember or request more

Delicious Japanese brasserie style of food in Tokyo Midtown, at very reasonable price. Draft beer selection on tap. It was a memorable and enjoyable meal.
