Great plate lunch. I got the combo of the pork, chili and the poke. The pork was a bit dry in my opinion and needed a bit more salt. Poke was tasty, but also not amazing… however the chili was the real winner. Delicious and tasty– rich and meaty. I really enjoyed it. Will have to try the loco moco next time but overall its a nice little Hawaiian joint with a pretty hearty portion.

I am in Tokyo often and this is my go to place for great local Hawaiian food. It can be a little wait to get a seat as it’s crowded by put well worth the wait. The ahi poke is a winner. Lunch and dinner specials around 1500 jpy. The owner is a local Hawaii born and makes you feel welcomed. If you are visiting Tokyo this is a must do!

Out of all the food in all of Japan, I somehow stumbled into this place. Big mistake. Everything I ate in Tokyo exceeded any expectation that I ever had for food, so I imagined that this Hawaiian place would do the same – especially given its good reviews. If you’re wondering why I’m eating food in Japan, trust me, I wondered the same thing myself for days. I just figured I’d never been to a Hawaiian restaurant, so why not? While walking around in the freezing rain debating on where to go for dinner, I relied on Unilocal to help me make a late night food decision. After reading a few reviews and seeing the super high ratings of Ogo’s, I decided to look for the restaurant with my husband in tow. When we walked into the restaurant, no one was there except for the owner and a few of his friend or patrons. Not quite sure… I should’ve known then to just walk on out. I’d later learn in Japan and pretty much any big city, that places that serve tasty food are packed at any time of the day, no matter what. After looking at the menu for a bit, I knew I wanted the famous«award-winning» poke even though it seemed to be more on the expensive side. I was hoping the quality of the fish and big proportions would be worth the price. The server seemed annoyed I was there and didn’t offer much input on what their specialties were. The service I had become so accustomed to was severely lacking here. As I waited for my food, I couldn’t shake the ominous feeling that this would not be a good experience. When I tasted my poke, my feelings were confirmed. It was already bad enough that this poke was filled with mostly filler – green apples. It just tasted like a horrible mix of tuna, onion, soy sauce, green apples and more green apples. Not to mention, the server placed the plate down on our table after saying, «I’m not sure if it’s good or not, it’s my first time making it.» What. The. Heck. Here’s a pat on the back for honesty, but that is not winning you any points. Honesty isn’t always the best policy. No one wants to hear that the server/chef(?) is competely inexperienced in making an «award-winning» dish that the restaurant is known for. To put the cherry on top of the worst dining experience in all of my Asia travels, I walked out out of the restaurant with the wrong change.(Or so I thought.) After returning back to the restaurant to ask why I was charged an extra $ 7USD, the incompetent server said that there was a cover charge. What. The. Heck. I don’t know where this fine print was. Shame on me. However, shame on you for not mentioning this charge would be added to my bill. Again, this wasn’t a hip club or bar where I’d happily pay a table charge. I didn’t realize being the only person in the restaurant, paying for horrible service and the worst food I had in all of Japan would include an additional fee. Needless to say, DON’T EATHERE. DON’T EATHERE. FORTHELOVEOFANYTHINGANDEVERYTHINGYOULOVE, DON’T EATHERE. You can thank me later.

Was feeling homesick and Ogo’s was the perfect remedy. Just hearing some local music put me right back on the island. Was nice to hear Kalapana and Ka’au Crater Boys while eating some spicy poke. The kalua pork quesadillas were moist and tasty. The ling hing salsa was something I never seen before and it was on point! I also had a loco moco which is the definition of «broke da mouth». Dessert was banana lumpia with cream and chocolate. Highly recommend this place for other homesick locals or people wanting to experience real Hawaiian food.

Hawaiian food in Japan? Yup, this place is legit. Locals told me this is the go-to spot for Hawaiian Sumo wrestlers, ’nuff said. Went in for lunch & ordered the Kalua pork and the ahi poke. Pork was perfect: tender with smoky flavor. The poke was even better: best I’ve had to date. There’s even Hawaiian beer. To sum up, if you’re craving for real Hawaiian, gotta go Ogo’s!

Tired of imitators when it comes«da kine onolicious» authentic Hawai’ian food? Dis no tourist luau grub bruddah, like I said, it’s truly«da kine.» Since getting on Unilocal this summer, I’d been dying to hit Ogo’s again just to refresh my tastebuds and then fire up the Review engine. So here we goes. For first-timers, the lunch specials are hard to beat in terms of variety, prices and value. Lunch combos come with choices of three sizes, one-two-three entrees and soft drinks + dessert optional for only an extra ¥100. The Kalua pork is heavenly — slow-cooked, flavorful and tender. Splash a bit of Hawai’ian hot sauce on top for extra z-z-zing. Another favorite is the ahi-poke(tuna sashimi, avocado, shallots, secret sauce). Seriously, this poke won a cook off award in Hawai’i, beating out the locals. Tasting is believing! Over the years, I’ve had everything on the menu more than once, many times in fact. Another favorite of mine is the chili. Now this is no normal chili, no, no! It’s accented with spicy Portuguese sausage — very tasty in a thick, slow-cooked on Hawai’i time broth. Other standards on the lunch menu include loco moco, and stews. On the day I visited, there was Christmas turkey and gravy. Oh, I should have done the three-choice lunch after sneaking a peek at the neighboring table. «Hey brah, can I have a bite?» Tip for lunch: Come early(before noon) or late(shortly before 1 pm) to avoid the crowds. Dinner time has a greatly expanded menu that includes things like spam fried rice(yum!), Kalua pork nachos(yum, yum!), lomi salmon and lau lau(super yum!). Are we drooling yet? Hawai’ian bottled beers also available, plus delectable haupia, and tons of other serious grinds! This is kama’aina(local) comfort food, C&K on the BGM, sometimes UH Rainbows football to the TV. Oh, and most important — it wouldn’t be authentic without true aloha spirit — no shortage of that here. So come, enjoy a bit of Hawai’i in downtown Tokyo! Mahalo nui loa.

Authentic Award winning Ahi poke and Kalua pig in Tokyo? No way brah. Umm… Yeah brah! Sample da Ahi Poke. Broke da mouth.(Hawaiian Pidgin kine talk– so damn good your mouth will fall off). After looking up Hawaiian restaurants in Tokyo and reading Steve/Ebisu Hapa’s review I had to give it a try. If it’s good enough for my favorite Sumo wrestlers, Mushashimaru & Konishiki, then it should be good enough for me right? Yes! Met up with a fellow Elite Unilocaler, Dean. Greeted with Aloha and seated. Nice, inviting dinning area. Seats about 16. He recommended the Large combo. Went with it– Kalua Pig & Ahi Poke(Hawaii style seasoned Tuna sashimi). Comes with a scoop of rice and Mac salad. The Ahi Poke was seasoned just right with one special ingredient that made it different and better than the rest– tiny fish eggs. Really Onolicious/Oishi! I can taste why the Ahi Poke here beat out the Hawaii competition in 2007. The Kalua pig had a nice smoked flavor. The Mac salad was good too. I also got to meet the chef. A local(Kama’aina) from Aiea. HI. Both our pidgin accents activated. This place is legit! Will have to try their dinner menu soon. Mahalo Ogo’s!

Hands down this IS the only truly authentic Hawaiian restaurant in ALLOFTOKYO! A local guy from Hawaii«Ryoji» opened up this place over 10 years ago in a building filled with late night«snack» mama-san bars next to posh Akasaka Biz Tower. Definitely hit up the lunch specials for around 1000 yen… Its almost impossible to have a budget dinner here as everything is soooo good and a bit on the pricey side. Chili Rice, Hawaiian Poke(seasoned Tuna), loco moco, Kalua pig, haupia… its just so so Aloha here. My friends at Goldman Sachs always order lunch delivery… a huge Hawaiian fan base with the locals and of course Iolani and Punahou High School alumni. JUSTGO!!! Oh, you will definitely spot Musashimaru, Konishike, Akebono and all da Hawaiians here~ plus they have streaming football too~
