— Wanna have some«dry» curry? - Food: 5 stars Price: 3 stars Service: 3 stars Ambiance: 4 stars Overall: 3.75 Food: I believe this place is originally a «shop,» but they decided to sell some food there and it got hot. haha. this place is quite popular among Japanese. It’s interesting because they called the most famous dish, エスニックそぼろカリー, «curry,» yet it’s sauce-less.(Maybe it’s why the place is called Oxymoron?) It’s more like fried rice in my opinion. What I love about that dish is that there are many fresh herbs, like cilantro and green onion. The dish is really refreshing and the rice, herbs, and ground beef blends really well in your mouth. It would probably make more sense to order a coffee or some kind of drink to go with the«curry» since it’s somewhat dry at the end. Btw, they give you some marinated veggie to balance the taste(cleanse!!!). and there’re sugar coated walnuts as dessert for free. I am not good with nuts, but you get what I mean haha. Price: I ordered エスニックそぼろカリー for 1200 yen in Jan. 2015, and I think the price was okay since it’s something new. end. Service: At the entrance, they asked me how many guests, and I said one. She then told the other person to lead me to my seat. They refilled my water once. Since not much service was demanded, not much was given. Ambiance: The ambiance is alright, pretty relaxed. I sat at the table facing the coffee area at the end of the restaurant, and I believe that area is designated for solo travelers. It was nice since I was facing the barista/waitress instead of other customers in the restaurant. Due to my personality, I finished my meal really fast and went on my trip. I think it could be a really relaxing spot to eat your lunch with your friends or lover though. Overall: I like this place and i’d come here again to try their other dishes! TIP1: This place is popular, and I was the 4th in line even though I came here 10 minutes before it opened. When it opened, the people that came later had to wait for the first set of guests to finish eating first. Just be aware of the expected wait time. TIP2: If you are not into dry curry, you can go to Kyaravei/Caraway. They have traditional curry there and it’s even more famous than this place. I think that place is cheaper as well.
