Casual and old-school, located deep down an alley across from Jimmy Choo’s. The food is absolutely delicious. There is no smoking on weekends, and seating is tight. The skewers are good, but the real taste treats were the chicken thigh(¥630 or so; I mention the price because it’s an entrée-sized piece of meat, much bigger than the skewers) and rice bowls.

This place is not easy to find, but it’s worth a stop if you’re in the Ginza area. We were looking for an authentic Japanese meal(rather than one packed with tourists) and this really fit the bill. We had the shiitake kamameshi and the traditional minced chicken varirty. The yakitori make for great apps.

Great kamameshi restaurant with a fine assortment of yakitori as well. Spacious restaurant makes seating easy but that doesn’t mean there won’t still be a wait. For Ginza the prices here are very reasonable! The kamameshi is an amazing broth-infused rice dish that has a warm, rich flavor. Those familiar with a well prepared pilaf will understand the soothing thats-the-way-mom-cooked-it feeling you’ll get from eating this. Comfort food at its finest. The yakitori selection while not huge still has the classic favorites and some interesting twists. The umeboshi chicken skewer was a table hit!

I have been at this restaurant twice in the past few weeks, always at lunch. The first time, I ordered some chicken donburi(the rice bowl with minced chicken on top) and I was not totally satisfied. It was good, but it was not super tasty and it lacked some strong flavor. The second time I went there with some friends and we ordered yakitori and other donburi. The yakitori were good, the donburi this time were a little bit better. The ambient is nice, the location is super(Ginza) and the service is good and polite. I am giving three starts mainly because of the food. It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but you can find much better food somewhere else in Tokyo. Come here if you are in Ginza and if you need a cheap and good meal.

This place is so over-rated. The food is mediocre, no service at all, so regretted to be there after 30 minutes exploring, rather to have a hamburger in hindsight. Never go there again.

Hard to find without using the Unilocal map feature in the application. There is a smokey smell when you first descent the stairs but once inside it is quickly replaced by the smell of cooking meat and BBQ. We requested a seat at the bar so we could see the chefs in action. The process is fun to watch. The chefs were very courteous. My husband and I ordered 8 skewers total and I had a pop. Our entire bill was less than 2000 Yen. The chicken meat balls were nicely flavored, I loved the grilled mushrooms, and the chicken was juicy. They had an English menu that was promptly provided to us to make ordering significantly easier for all involved. Our only disappointment was that they were out of the bacon wrapped asparagus that others on Unilocal had raved about.

This was a very average Yakitori place. The food was just average, and the atmosphere is closer to a chain restaurant than the kind of smaller Yakitori joints I enjoy.

Fantastic yakitori in the middle of Ginza! A client told me about this place, including how to locate(down a narrow alley, then down the stairs next to the sign). Yum! Everything here is simply delicious! Fav of all favs is the bacon-wrapped asparagus. Yes, everything is better with bacon, including grilled food!

A hole-in-the-wall restaurant in the back alleys of Ginza. Torigin Honten is my other go-to yakitori and kamameshi restaurant whenever I’m in Ginza and I feel like Kamameshi and Yakitori for lunch! Anyways, just like at New Torigin, my favorite is their tori-kamameshi and their yakitori’s are all very delicious. I usually order their ‘yakitori’ in shio and their tebasaki. They so an amazing job cooking the yakitori, they know not to over cook it, always very juicy and never under cooked. They use good chicken so if you like chicken and want to enjoy the taste fully, I suggest you order the yakitori in shio. Cons: — Again, this restaurant has an old school Japanese bar vibe, and it’s definitely not ‘non-smoking’…it gets pretty smokey if there’s smokers… it doesn’t help they don’t have windows… **simple and sweet** — If you like simple dishes to enjoy the goodness of the ingredients, try their tori-kamameshi, and the yakitori and shio. — their tebasaki is a winner. Check out New Torigin across from this shop if you want a more old school vibe for dinner ;) both places are amazingly delicious.
