I was there with my family and this was one of the best specialized unagi don restaurant period. The restaurant is located about 500m from ginza station. It wasn’t hard to locate because I had Unilocal gps with me. I was there for lunch and the prices were between 3000 to 6500 yen. The restaurant was excellent, clean and understated. The services were excellent and very polite. Their unagi don took about 30 mins to cook as the chef cooked the meal on the spot. The unagi is the best I have ever tried. It is so good that I wanted to order a second bowl. However the dish was quite filling for one person. The chefs were nice and smiling. I love this place and will definitely be back.

This place is all about unagi(うなぎ), or Japanese fresh water eel. Food: Besides the regular unagi don, Tokitou also offers all parts of unagi made in all sorts of different ways(unagi meatballs, for example). However, I’m an old fashioned unagi lover and opted for the signature unagi don set(the large portion). It came with soup, pickled veggies and a beautiful box that contains the soul of this meal: a thin bed of white rice, covered by a generous layer of fresh, fatty, perfectly roasted unagi, lightly seasoned with unagi sauce. There is extra unagi sauce available so that you can pour to your taste, and sansho pepper that goes amazingly well with the sauce. I ordered the large portion assuming Japanese portions are 2 sizes smaller than US, in retrospective I could be more than satisfied with the regular sized unagi don. Ambiance: The décor is very modern Japanese. Simple wooden counter(you can observe the chefs roasting unagi or making rice), nice soft lighting, small vases of flowers scattered on the counter and tables. It’s not a big place, counter space plus a few tables at the back can probably seat around 20 people. The ambiance is casual, intimate with class. Definitely not touristy(I’d be super confused if my friend Noriko O wasn’t there to help me out). Location: In the heart of Ginza, easily walkable from Ginza station(forgot which exit though). Price: It’s definitely not cheap. ~ ¥ 6000 for a unagi don set but well worth the value for someone who loves unagi. Considering I’d pay almost $ 30 for a unagi don by itself in the US made from previously frozen unagi, this is not a bad deal at all. (Again thanks my Unilocal friend Noriko O for taking me there!)

Sure that they serve best eel in Tokyo. Especially, its sauce is incredible! it is very hard to for even Japanese to find an Unagi restaurant like this, I strongly recommend travelers coming from outside of Tokyo!
