Indonesian food, cooked by Indonesian chefs. Authentic taste, made slightly on the mild side for the Japanese palate but sambal is available on the tables, and of course, you can ask for«native spiciness» if you prefer fire breathing dragon hot. Lunch specials are numerous and all reasonably priced at around ¥1000. Lunch includes your entrée, a nice curry-spiced lemon soup, dessert and choice of beverage. Wait staff are a combination of local Japanese and native Indonesians, including the cooks. Good atmosphere, complete with authentic Indonesian decorations and motifs. For a department store restaurant, Surabaya is actually quite good. A second visit at night to sample more of the menu is in order! P. S. Had Traditional nasi goreng fried rice topped with a fried egg. The entrée was accompanied by vinegar pickled veggies, deep fried shrimp chips and one stick of chicken satay covered with tasty peanut sauce. The fried rice was made with Thai rice, an added bonus that gave the dish the right flavor and consistency. Next time I’ll ask for«ōmori»(large serving). :-)
