Wolfgang’s Steakhouse Marunouchi

Very good place for steaks and ribs. Meat cuts and preparation are first level. American sized portions big enough to share. Expensive but reasonable considering the quality. Good deals during lunch and happy hour. Very good service and interiors at this Tokyo downtown restaurant.

Went here for a company party so the menu was fixed.
Service staff were very friendly and provided an excellent overall service experience responding to needs as they arose promptly.
The food itself was fantastic. I must admit I’m not a huge steak fan but the meat was well cooked, not too much fat, and had a well rested aged flavor.
The accompanying spinach and mashed potatoes while good were a bit stark next to the meat. Maybe it’s just because I much prefer the classic French steak frites combination. But they were good. A standout though was whatever magical steak sauce they had in the bottle on the table. Subtle, not too sweet, with a good flavor.
Did I mention the steak portion was ginormous? For five people, yet we five mere mortals at our table only managed to eat half. Fantastic that a large portion as this was nonetheless cooked with perfect consistency throughout.
The seafood platter was exceptional. Lobster was perfect. Crab delicious. Shrimp was maybe a touch dry but still delicious. My dinner mates consumed the oysters and based on how quickly they went I’ll assume there were no complaints.
The bread that came with the meal was well cooked with a nice bite and fresh flavor. The nut bread was especially tasty.
The salad was interesting. Typical Caesar salad but with a giant slab of pork belly that I presume took the role of the bacon in the salad. The pork was so good that the salad ended up being a mere garnish.
Soup was tasty. Not salty, good flavor. Perhaps not standout but one I’d happily try again.
The dessert was tasty. Maybe too much whipped cream but a very good sorbet next to a solid cheese cake. Definitely a good closer to a good meal.
