Le premier étage pour les patisserie — le 8em pour les services à thé — et les kimonos un peu plus haut– le reste aucun intérêt c’est un Printemps ou galette la facettes bis

I stayed right across from Tokyo Station so I ended up visiting this Daimaru store every day during my Weekend in Tokyo. I did grow up with a Daimaru when I was younger in Hong Kong but this is nothing compared to that small tiny store that my father used to take me there every weekend. Shopper Heaven! Foodie Heaven! And of course free samples of food in a lot of the stalls too. The crowd though can be a little crazy as a lot of locals come and get their last minute gifts before they board their trains to wherever part of Japan they are going. Make sure you visit Tokyu Hands which is at the top floors which is one of my favourite stores to browse around.

2014 Escapade in Japan-review #6 My first review for 2015 is part of the Japan trip we took in November of 2014. Daimaru Tokyo Department store is part of the JR Tokyo complex that is easily accessible off the Yamanote transportation line in the City. It is one of those enormous department stores you find in Japan. At 13 stories plus a basement, each floor is large enough that they have two sets of escalators in addition to elevator access. On the 12th floor is their version of a restaurant food court, several different restaurants all on this floor. We had an opportunity to try their buffet restaurant called, «Tokyo Station Buffet Chiso Zanmai». At 2600 yen per person, it’s a good deal with a great view of the city-and for us, those city lights at dinner time were a treat to view. The offerings included a limited salad bar, Chinese, Italian, western style dishes, sea food and also Japanese cuisine. The desserts were nice but also limited as is the time.(You have a 90 minute maximum since it is AYCE.). A good comparison would be Tsukiji Market buffet at Ala Moana Center. A lot of stuff, nothing really standing out as a memorable dish. The Japanese offerings were pretty good, the sushi, tempura and chawanmushi were probably the highlights but you could find better offerings a sitdown restaurant specializing in that cuisine. While the food was not memorable that city view was and after a long day of shopping choosing this venue for the views and relaxed pace can make it a worthy choice. The food would rate at 3.5 stars with an overall bump to 4 stars for the view.

Daimaru tantalizes the senses with an array of sights and smells that are nothing short of brilliant. While I did not spend much time looking at clothes or accessories, I did enjoy the food floors. When you come here, make it a point to visit the main floor and basement for a boundless assortment for fresh pastries, candies, produce, sandwiches, seafood, alcohol, and more. The service here is excellent. Even though I do not speak Japanese, the staff were extremely gracious and helpful. It is worth your time to spend an hour or two browsing and snacking on the food floors here.
