A classy italian bistrot than serves a tasty and creative venitian food. They also propose some vegan meals. We had grilled squids and salops, oriechete with olives and melanzana, and red tuna. Everything was really good and we finished with excellent deserts: tiramisu, after eight and mille feuille. Prices are high but it deserves it.

I ate dinner at Da Mario alla Fava in Venice, Italy on 3 July 2015. It was my 1st time there. I had pasta, a salad, water and a Coke. My total bill was 42.56 Euros. I was seated in a pleasant outdoor area(they have no air conditioning inside). Best to make reservations as I was turned down the night before because they were booked. Plus, I took photos.

The staff graciously accepted me after another restaurant rudely(epically) failed to serve us. Excellent food(wife had the spaghetti(which, by the way is very hard to ace in Venice)) and I had the baked calamari which was fantastic. We were greeted with a complementary appetizer(also outstanding) and we’re not subject to any of the usual Venice chicanery of cover charges, mandatory service charges, etc. Service was friendly, prompt, and respectful. Patio was lovely and covered — a bonus or necessity in Venice in July. We arrived 10 min prior to the kitchen closing but were still not made to feel rushed when ordering or eating.

We are foodies from LA and travel a lot. It was our last night in Italy and too tired to go restaurant hunting, so we chose this one, virtually next door to our apartment. We had seen it during the week, thought it was old world charming but were reluctant since it was close to the tourist area, higher priced than any other restaurants we dined at and carried a service charge which I’m still not sure the purpose of. As it turns out the food was wonderful. We ordered a antipasto with mozzarella cold cuts, a very large prawn scampi dish fresh from the fishing docs, a pasta with a cream sauce and Italian ham plus a to-die-for desert of strawberry geloto with chocolate sauce. Service was Italian grouchy but professional. Atmosphere was why we chose it in the first place, very comfortable and charming, one of the few places where there was legroom under the table. Tables are close which fostered conversation with other travelers. We’d go back just for the gelato if we had to choose. Address: Calle dei Stagneri 5242 Tel: +390415285147 Visited May 2015

Cute and cozy. Food and service were lovely… until it came time to get the bill. We had to ask three times… three different people. We were starting to feel invisible. Finally the bill and two complimentary glasses of limoncello arrived.

A cozy little restaurant with a very nice selection of wines and very good seafood dishes. The waiting staff was friendly and very willing to help us choose the right plate for us. I had the«Octopus carpaccio» as an appetizer and I really loved the presentation and the flavor. If you like spaghetti, try the ones with the olive oil, and clams. Very spicy but simply delicious.

We stumble across this while shopping the first night and it was packed. Second night and it was still packed. We ordered the house salad(super fresh and good to share), the clams spaghetti(the clams were huge and noodle made aldent with a rich but light white sauce), and main courses of veal loin and sea bass. Some food were a bit saltier than we liked but the flavor was amazing!!! We finish the night with tiramisu(best I ever had) and they gave us limon shots at the end, yum :)

Cyndy’s Bottom Line: A typical tourist restaurant serving OK Italian food when you are hungry and foraging around for dinner with no reservations. We were able to secure a table quickly without reservations. This is what we ate/drank: Served a amuse-bouche of tuna mousse in a little puff pastry. Tasted like a tiny tuna fish sandwich. Ordered the special which was a spider crab with pasta. The taste was delicious but I couldn’t figure out the so called spider crab from the Mediterranean Sea? It tasted similar to tuna. The pasta was done perfectly. Hubby ordered the monk fish which was nicely done with a light sauce with tomatoes and olives served with sliced potatoes. Wine by the glass is very limited. Price point was high for what you receive but you are in the tourist area.

A gem amid the ruckus and buckus of Venice shopping. We visited during the dinner hour. Warm greeting in a quiet setting and very professional servers. Servers may seem standoffish at first, but warms up when, of course, compliments about the food are shared. From appetizer to dessert, every bite was delicious and well presented. Braised scallops, braised king prawns and homemade pesto were favorites topped off with a delicate tiramisu. Yes — we will definitely return when we visit Venice again!

The food here is outstanding! Go here to get away from the tourist trap joints in Venice. Wonderful pasta and desserts! We had the grilled octopus(that may freak some folks out but trust me, it melted in your mouth and was unbelievably delicious), cuttlefish, and the strawberry dessert. The best meal we had in Venice hands down! It’s more expensive than some other places but well worth it!

Great food and atmosphere. Wonderful fish, pasta and beef dishes and fabulous desserts too! Expensive but worth it. Just south of Rialto Bridge.
