Service and ambience is second to none. Our table was outside on Grand Canal on a perfect evening. Great wine recommendations and fabulous shellfish appetizer, fish and soufflé for dessert. Very expensive but when in Venice…

For a fabulous dinner with an incredible view, look no further than the Club del Doge. We had a very late dinner around 10pm and sat on a beautiful table right on the water. Service was exquisite. We requested a dry white wine and the waiter was very helpful and happy to point us towards an inexpensive but excellent wine. My husband and I shared the parmesan risotto with truffles and the sea bass. Both were drool worthy. The risotto was creamy, rich and topped with truffles. The fish was one of the best I’ve ever had. It was thick, and I loved the roasted cherry tomatoes, potatoes and olives that came along with it. Their tiramisu for dessert was perfect. It was such a pleasure to eat at this historic hotel and while prices are not cheap, it was worth it for the experience.

What a great venue, locations, and views. It was a perfect night. The wine list is excellent. The service was also great. We both selected items from the main menu and we each picked a pasta from the special white truffle menu. The pasta was quite boring actually(both of them). The rest of the food was decent, but nothing to write home about. Still a very pleasant evening!

ENCHANTEDEVENING We have had two unbelievable breakfast buffets(third for following morning) and reserved our final evening for dinner on this Canal Grande restaurant of the main floor of the Palazzo Pisanii Gritti Hotel. Our view has been watching Venezia wake up each morning and the closing of each evening with the oarsman serenading to their passaengers as they navigate out onto the Grand Canale from the Rio San Moise with the bare minimum of lighting. You can only hear the oaman blended in the backdrop of stillness broken by the sounds of passing Vaporettos, water taxis and privately chauffeured boats. The building that dominates the skyline is the Baroque church of Santa Maria della Salute at the mouth of the Canal Grande. Nothing can be better than this breath taking venue for dining. DINNER Fresh baked breads with olive and pepper tapenade along with an amuse bouche of rabbit mousse was provided complimentary. We started out with the Raw Seafood platter comprised of the freshest scallops, three types of shrimp, tuna and salmon. Next we sampled the best homemade pasta ever with squid and anchovy. We could have stopped here, but we had also ordered the mixed grilled seafood to share. This plate consisted of enough fish to feed at least another person or two: Sea bass, Monkfish, Bream, Scampi and Shrimp served with grilled vegetables and fresh green salad with tomatoes topped with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Finishing our dreamy Venezia evening with cappucinos and a complimentary plate of cookies. The table service and mannerism is beyond reproach. The pasta was the best ever in our lives. The seafood is with resounding freshness never before at a restaurant other than a Chinese live seafood restaurant in Hong Kong or Singapore. BREAKFASTBUFFET Each morning we were pampered silly with incredible service and jesters of unabusive importance. Besides the buffet items, there is an included breakfast menu that will spoil our upcoming cruise on the Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam. Even the Four Seasons will not top this exquisite breakfast buffet.

We dined out more than a dozen times on our recent trip to Italy and this was by far the highlight. We could not have had a better table facing the Grand Canal. The service was excellent and the food even better. While it was expensive it really wasn’t as expensive as I was anticipating. Dining outside at the Club del Doge is worth making the trip to Venezia by itself!
