Great Authentic Pizza Experience at Pizzeria Trianon. Bucket List item check off list. 5 Stars! It is going to be a while before I can eat any other pizza! Amazing! Worth the walk through Naples to find it. Where pizza was invented.. . Naples, Italy. Fierce competition with Da Michelle down the street(where Eat Pray Love was filmed) makes Pizzeria Trianon bake amazing pizza like they’ve been doing since 1923. Mozzarella DOP, means the mozzarella is protected by law. According to — «Mozzarella di bufala(or buffalo mozzarella) from Campania is made according to strict production rules that comply with procedures fine-tuned by the Consorzio di Tutela(Consortium for the Protection of buffalo mozzarella). Founded in 1981, it is the only institution recognized by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to protect, monitor, valorize and promote mozzarella di bufala DOP from Campania. Thanks to the Consortium, the buffalo mozzarella from Campania was the only one of its kind to obtain European DOP recognition.» Bucket list item for sure so when in Napoli, Eat Pray Love Pizza!

If I were these guys, I’d be cheesed(pun intended) that Da Michele gets all the attention when Trianon serves up just as excellent a pizza with many more options to choose from. The margherita with prosciutto was amazing, and served up with just the right thickness and sauciness. You can’t go wrong here.

When in Naples, why not try a Neapolitan pizza?! FYI, this place is about 10min walk from the Napoli train station. We chose to go to Trianon instead of De Michele(the more popular one) because this place was open(we went Sunday 11am). **Be aware that a lot of places are closed on Sunday!**It had just open so there was no wait. The pizza itself is huge and cheap £4.50. One can be easily shared between two people. Now(food snob alert!) I am a New Yorker, so to me I wasn’t blown away by the pizza. It tasted very similar to Grimaldi’s if you’ve ever had it. Still very good though!

Welcome to Naples, where pizza is the ruler of the kingdom. In a land with endless pizza options, Trianon comfortably stakes its claim. Neapolitan pizza should be light and the ingredients should be the star of the show. This is great pizza at an even better price. I will reserve the last star until I try out the so called«better pizzas» in the area

After a week in Naples this is the best pizza, genuine Neapolitan, sponge and chewy. Very friendly prize. Basic interior. Many locals. If you go for a dinner go before 8pm, you will avoid big crowd of locals:)

If you’re a visitor in Napoli: It’d be a shame not to come here. Like, seriously. Why would you come to Napoli and not come here? Keep in mind I forbade my friend from ordering pizza across northern Italy until we got to Napoli. Da Michele, Di Matteo, and Trianon are the contenders for the title of «best pizza in Napoli,» which, really, translates to the Best Pizza in the World. Napoli is the only city I know that issues pizza-making LICENSES. Not all Napolitan joints have licenses, but those that contend for the title of being the best better have it.(I have not confirmed whether all three restaurants I mentioned have licenses, but don’t rave reviews say a lot?) Of the three, I’ve only tried Trianon’s pizza. I actually passed by Di Matteo during lunch hours and the throng of people around that hole in the wall was like seeing 13 year old girls around Justin Bieber. Because my friend and I had just finished eating good 2 lbs. of canoli, baba rum, and some other dessert at this point, we actually skipped out on Di Matteo. Alas. As for why I couldn’t visit Da Michele(famed for being the pizza joint that Julia Roberts visits in Eat, Pray, Love) — if you come to Napoli during Ferie(week of religious holiday across Italy in mid-August), Trianon will be open and Da Michele will NOT be. So in my 3-day stay in Naples, I ate at Trianon twice, and each time I ate there, it was bumpin’ with locals and visitors alike. One up for Trianon in my book. By the way, who are the people giving 2 euro signs for this place? It starts at 3.50 euros for a pizza. A whole pizza. Come on! Now that pricing is out of the way, what to get… is a hard question, but after I had the Margherita con uovo(Margherita with egg), I couldn’t try other things. My friend ventured out. I stuck to what is good. If it ain’t broke, don’t tinker. The staff is ultra-friendly and will let you take a picture making pizza at the pizza oven upstairs :) Come, pray, eat — and fall in love.

We plan to go Da Michele. But it’s close now. So we choose Trianon. The pizza is just so so. We order the seafood pizza. It’s like drinking ketchup with a few cheese and poor seafood. Also the seafood is not really fresh.

Pizzeria traditionnelle réputée pour être excellente et elle l’est. Assez«dans son jus», elle fait très Resto de quartier et c’est plaisant. Peu de touristes.

Worked on a cruise ship in italy that docked in Naopli every 8 days. For the majority of us onboard who had the ability to go out into port — this is where we went for lunch EVERY single time. Cheap, delicious pizza. Filled with locals. Air conditioning is nice on a hot day. Fast and serviced perfectly hot. I am considering booking a trip from California to Napoli just so I can eat at Trianon for lunch and dinner for a week. Amazing pizza and they are friendly to American’s.

Holy f***ing s**t — I’ve found my soul food. I highly highly recommend this place. My girlfriend and I wanted some good authentic pizza and had gone to L’Antica the night before, but we didn’t want to wait another 2 hours to get in. We decided to go to this place because we had stumbled across it around the corner, looked it up, and saw very favourable reviews as Michele’s rival. There was no line and EVERYONE was a local — a sure sign that it is a great place. This restaurant is a lot more spacious and the service is a lot more organized. The menu is also a lot more adventurous than Michele and we ordered accordingly. We chose the pizza with the DOP cheese(fantastic pizza where you can taste the difference in cheese), and the Pizza Forte(a spicy pizza with meat). Both pizzas arrived quickly and were so large they were falling off the plate. They were delicious and fairly reasonably priced(two pizzas and two drinks put us a little over 20 euros). Side note: the knives cut a lot better here and the washroom is nicer. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for good pizza but don’t want to wait hours!

Disclaimer. We are from WI. A dairy state in the USA. The pizza is good not mind blowing great but pizza like this is an everyday thing for us. Too much oil, needs more tomatoes. The red sauce is very good. Fresh. The crust is nice and crisp all the way to the center. I would have liked more cheese not as in more but maybe less cooked highlighting the fresh mozzarella. No taste of the tomato, could use more. Not bad maybe for pizza of the world but you can find better in Milwaukee Wi!

Rating: 92⁄100 pts Pizzeria Trianon has been operating since 1923; the beautifully weathered mosaic oven inside will speak of that. For most of its existence, Trianon has been in fierce competition with the more traditional Pizzeria Da Michele, which staunchly offers only two varieties: Margherita and Marinara. Trianon, on the other hand, pampers patrons with a 3-page fold-out menu of any kind of pizza you could want, but in spite of the variety, execution is flawless. When coming here, instead of getting the standard Margherita, I took advantage of the extensive menu and ordered the Buffalo Margherita S.T.G.(with D.O.P. mozzarella), and the Lasagna Pizza, sharing both pies with a friend. (Cheesy Fact: Any cheese marked«D.O.P.» is protected by law and must be produced in a certain region. Though«buffalo mozzarella» is a protected variety, the mozzarella usually eaten in the US is not actually protected buffalo mozzarella, but typically mozzarella produced from a cow, which costs less, and also has significantly less moisture. In fact, in Italian, this imposter mozzarella isn’t even called mozzarella – they use the term«fior di latte», literally«milk cream».) The«splurge» for the D.O.P., at just a few euro more, was totally worth it. The cheese was both chewy and creamy at the same time, and clearly had a more substantial and natural texture than your standard«fior di latte» mozzarella. The cheese lies heavily over the super thin crust, requiring some assistance from silverware or some masterly folding in order to go from pan to mouth without major incident. The Lasagna Pizza, topped with frothy ricotta cheese and chopped prosciutto, was equally sensational, and served as a good contrast to the strictly Margherita pizzas I had been having thus far. Good right down to the last drop of dripping oil, it was the kind of pizza that you never want to end. Pizza was invented in Naples, and is one of Italy’s gifts to the world. Even if food isn’t one your priorities, enjoying some of the town’s most celebrated and deeply established pizza should be on your to-do list. Pizzeria Trianon is a perfect spot for doing this. It amazes me that these pies cost only around $ 5 – 10, for a culinary experience you will likely remember for the rest of your life; these were certainly some of the best pies I’ve ever had.

Classic original style pizzeria in Naples. If you want to taste authentic Napoletana style pizza without having to wait in the lines at the rival Da Michele then this is your place! I’m not the type of person who likes waiting hours for food though I’ve been known to do this multiple times. Everyone who visits Naples wants to go to Da Michele because they saw Julia Roberts fall in love with their pizza in Eat, Pray, Love. But, as your tour guide from Sorrento Coast Limo(SCL) told us, Pizzeria Trianon is just as good if not better and you don’t have to stand in a queue all day. I have to say Rosario from SCL was right. This is on all accounts a very delicious pizza pie. Plus, each pie is the size of Jupiter it seems like. You’ll definitely need a fork and knife to get through the saucer of pizza. Speaking of the pizza, the crust is crisp though with all they stack on the pie you do get a bit of soggy dough in the middle. If you’re a fan of super crisp, almost potato-chip crisp like dough, then maybe you might not like it. Even so I found the dough to be expertly cooked with the right amount of wood-fire char in spots. The two pizzas we enjoyed were the Maria Sofia Margherita(4 euros) and the Margherita Salsiccia e Funghi(8 euros). It is incredible how much pizza you can get for that low price and we were absolutely stuffed after. I personally enjoyed the classic Maria Sofia because its was no-nonsense cheeze, tomato sauce, and crust. But don’t get me wrong the Salsiccia e Funghi really had a nice savory kick to it and the sausage and mushrooms were juicy and delicious. You really can’t go wrong at Pizza Trianon: no wait, massive pizzas, and a price that can’t be beat. I may try Da Michele someday but I don’t have a burning desire now that I know Pizza Trianon makes superb Napoletana style pizza. Tip: 15% service charge included.

This pizza is well-regarded, and for good reason! My friend and I were looking for authentic Napoletana pizza, and we more than found it. The pizza itself is so perfect – a soft crust, but still with enough of a texture to be substantial. We got the marinara, which was a welcome change from all the cheese we’ve been eating in Italy. The ingredients were so fresh – especially the tomatoes. You could taste each ingredient distinctly but they also meshed really well together. Tomatoes, basil, garlic – you name it. ALSOTHEPIZZAISRIDICULOUSLYCHEAP. Like 5 euro for a huge, shareable pizza. Go go go

I am willing to work the rest of my life with payment in Trianon pizzas. My first bite into their margherita pizza changed my life. It made me question what I’ve been doing with my life up until that moment. A girlfriend and I stopped by well before opening time(we were misinformed of their store opening hours). The guys there were completely welcoming about us getting there so early. Obviously, the restaurant was completely empty, but they fired up the ovens and brought out our pizzas. € 5 can’t beat that with a stick. My friend got a combination pizza with meats and veggies, I stuck with a classic margherita and thought mine tasted loads better in terms of texture char appearance and taste. Sometimes simple is better, and this was one of those times.

Out of the two«original» pizzerias in Naples — L’Antica Pizzeria — Da Michele across the street is apparently the more well-known rival. However, there was a line of locals and tourists waiting outside Da Michele and nowhere to sit, so we decided to come to Trianon instead. This place is refreshingly spacious and it was nice to hangout where we were not overtaken by other tourists. We sat downstairs, but the upstairs is actually quite nice and spacious as well. We tried the Margherita con prosciutto cotto e funghi — pizza with mushrooms, fior di latte cheese, cooked ham, and basil( ) and the traditional margherita pizza( ). Both were delicious, especially the Margherita con prosciutto cotto e funghi. The traditional margherita pizza turned out kind of boring after a couple slices, so I would likely pick something with more ingredients next time. Overall, highly recommended for pizza in Naples. Come experience it before it turns into the next tourist hot spot.

Trianon, while not famed by any movies or the top of other pizza lists in Naples, came out to be my wife and I’s favorite Neapolitan pizza place. Service was prompt and actually fairly friendly. Place was pretty clean… but let’s be honest, if you’re in Naples, you’re looking for the quality of the food… Trianon’s pizza, in a single word, was perfect. Great leoparding, beautiful rise on the crust, excellent airiness to the corncione, with just enough stiffness to the crust that it has a very light crisp to it. Of all the places we tried in Naples, this was our choice for the best… while Da Michele(across the street) is close, this eeks it out by a touch. And perhaps the best part, there’s typically NO line since it Julia Roberts didn’t eat here. Verdict: Eat here. If you’re on a pizza quest, try the other places as well, but don’t overlook this place. It’s spectacular.

I’m guessing a lot of folks end up here when Pizzeria da Michele is either closed or too packed, that’s how we ended up here. But I’ll say this, it will be difficult not come here the next time. What a perfect pizza! The traditional Margheritas are amazing — I can’t stop thinking about the flavors, best pizza I’ve ever had! There are three stories here and they pump pizzas from three wood burning ovens on each floor. This looks to be a popular local spot as it was packed the two times we were here — but plenty of seating means you’ll always get in! Look no further — this is a must try!

Dinner at Trianon for pizza after arriving to Naples from Rome on the train. Ordered the margherita, margherita con salciccia e funghi(sausage & mushroom), and Italian coca cola. They were out of buffalo mozzarella which almost made me want to leave the place but we were so tired so we stayed and ate there and was thankful that we did because their pizzas were really spectacular. The hot out of the oven pizzas warms the soul and the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The restaurant was opened in 1923 and has been serving Neapolitan pizza since then. They have a beautiful mosaic tiled wood-fired oven right inside the restaurant. We had Italian coca cola to go with the pizzas. They came in glass bottles with glass cups and ice on the side. Unlike people in the US, most Europeans do not drink directly out of the bottle or cans. It tasted less sugary and still has the great coca cola flavor.
