Living in Florence, I made several attempts to make a reservation with no luck. On occasion, I would stop by to see if there was any spot available. Asking for a table in perfectly resaonable Italian the response, in English, was«No, if you want a salad you can go over there.» Gesturing to some tourist trap down the street. I never went back and never recommend this place.

Stopped by for an afternoon drink on my accidental trip to Pitti. Glad I came to this place.

Intimate wine shop with warm, friendly and knowledgeable service. Had the lunch tasting menu, with four distinctive vintages selected to complement the dishes. Place yourself in their capable hands and it’ll be hard to go wrong.

If I could give this place more stars I would! We have literally gone out of our way on vacation in Siena just to come to this place for a good sampling of AMAZING wine. Service is epic! They explain the wine making process, region, and producer of each wine. They give extra attention every-time we go. If you have any remote interest in learning about wine(or just drinking really good wine) and tasting some really good dishes, Come here!!! I love and suggest Spumante for white wine or Brunello for red wine.

This might not mean much coming from a wine newbie but this place is the real deal. My friend and I came in for a wine tasting having absolutely no idea what was good and not. Manuele was so patient and was such a great help. The workers here absolutely know what they are doing. He picked up one of the many glasses at our table and was able to tell which brand it was. Amazing! Super knowledgeable and you could feel their enthusiasm for wine. Manuele was very accommodating and told us everything about the wine we tried. His recommendations were spot on for what we had in mind. They offer shipping and package all the wine you purchase with bubble wrap. You could also purchase a wooden box with their store name and logo on it for 7 €. Will absolutely return when I go back to Florence!

Jennifer Tattanelli, owner of Casini next door sent us over for lunch. It was our most fulfilling afternoon in Florence, between the exquisite pasta and lovely wine selection.

After several days in Florence, I realized I hadn’t visited an Enoteca yet. Staff at my hotel recommended Pitti Gola and a great recommendation it was. Doing some background research, I saw that many people go for a 10 course wine tasting — a dining experience as they put it. I expected a similar experience when I arrived, but learned these types of dining experiences needed to be reserved in advance. I was disappointed, but the evening was excellent and memorable nonetheless. It is important to keep in mind that this place is a wine shop that sells bottles and cases of wine to Italians and beyond via mail. You may even call this place a wine bar with about 10 red, white and sparkling wines by the glass and about 5 tables plus bar seating and an outdoor patio. You can absolutely buy a bottle and drink, but there is no bottle price list. Just graze the shelves or cellar and pick a bottle, but don’t expect this to be a $ 12 bottle of house wine. Calling this place a restaurant would be a stretch and they don’t proclaim to be this. There are appetizers, similar to tapas(around 8 euros each) and then 3 pasta dishes(around 14 euros each). The food was excellent, but if you are starving and looking for a food heavy meal, this is probably not the place. For food, we had a crostini appetizer with mozzarella and anchovies — salty and tasty. We then shared 2 pasta dishes. One was a ravioli type pasta with pumpkin and amaretto — sounds«different,» but was quite good. The other pasta dish was sphagettoni with white ragu. All pasta is made fresh daily in house — and you can tell! Yum! Disappointed we didn’t plan in advance and schedule a formal wine tasting, the sommelier helped us choose 3 different wines to accompany each dish. We split one glass between the two of us, so it was not exorbitantly expensive. I can’t recall all of the wines, but they were all Sangiovese and I believe of the Monticelli winery. All were paired well. The ambiance was nice. We sat inside which is mostly the bar, but you are surrounded by shelves of fancy wines. The staff were great. The sommelier definitely seemed to know what he was talking about and accommodated us well. At the end of our meal, we shared a great piece of chocolate cake with cookie base. Excellent! The sommelier gave us a complimentary dessert wine as well! In the end, the bill was around 68 euros total which included the typical service charge. If you are looking to try some local wines with some tasty nibbles to accompany, definitely check this place out. Definitely worth the experience.

i could probably go on and on about this place and my experience, but ill give you the cliff notes version of it instead… GOTHERE. if youre in florence and you want to eat well AND have a great wine tasting experience… GOTHERE. zeno(one of the owners/sommelier) is a well spoken italian cat that knows his wine. we found out about this place thru another friend who had been here recently, and boy were we lucky to have found this gem of a spot… our wine tasting and meal consisted of about 7 or 8 courses of food with about 12 glasses of wine. after the greatest wine tasting experience ive ever had in my life… i was completely satiated and also completely hammered. GOD, vacations sure are great… the wine selection here truly is remarkable… apparently they have their own reserve bottles of wine that they started receiving from a small winery that they work with near tuscany… these guys really do have a passion for wine and food and will definitely educate you on old world italian wines… i have to say again… the food here was amazing… as a wine-o or as a foodie… if youre in florenece… make a reservation and get your ass in here asap!!!

Arrived famished after a long day traveling to Lucca and back. It was dark out and rounding the corner we saw a few chairs outside with the wam dim glow of the place: it was open! We were grateful. We ordered a plate of 5 cheeses and a selection of meats. I went inside and worked with one of the wine experts. We wanted something local or north of Florence as we will be going south soon for Brunello’s etc. the fist glass I tasted(a Barbaresco 2008) was perfect. We ordered the bottle and it went so well with the great food the bottle was emptied before we new it. We had a second bottle from a local winery. It was a Sangiovese and this too was fantastic in flavor and pairing. We ended up ordering three rounds of varying meets and cheeses all chosen by our waiter or one of the wine experts(such as Edwardo who happened to be one of the owners). We were so well taken care off. We will be back… most likely the next day which is now

This place is owned and run by two brothers(Edoardo and Zeno) and their business partner, Manuele. I discovered this place by coincidence after visiting Pitti Palace. I felt so relieved when I saw the«Wine Bar» sign after walking around the huge museum — yes, I could use some drinks! The brothers are cool, fun, knowledgeable, and always interacting with customers. It looked like most of customers are regular. You can get from affordable to quite fancy Tuscan wines. They have a couple of sitting places outside, and a couple of tables inside where maybe a bit over ten people can fit. I have to add they also have chairs at the bar which is a bonus for me, and very rare in Italy(as a wine bar). They give you complimentary amuse bouche(two slices of pecorino cheese and a piece of bread with ham). Their food menu may not be long, however, they serve serious dishes. I tried ravioli with slow cooked beef in Chianti — it was darn good. I heard they make fresh pasta twice a day right there in the kitchen. I love the ambiance, people, food, and of course wine. I must come back…

Pitti Gola e Cantina is one of those hidden gems of Italy; it’s a small wine bar right across the street from the Pitti Palace. Whenever I’m in Florence I make a point of stopping by and sampling a few glasses of some Super Tuscans accompanied by some fine cheeses. I would highly recommend this fine Cantina.
