When I heard a new greek place was opened, I really got excited. I mean one can never have enough ethnic food if you ask me! The place itself, located near piazza san marco has all the ingredients for greatness too. A nice ambiance, local products that they sell there and even a little courtyard, that looks a little like someone’s backyard(because I think it is). I went with a few friends and we started with a cheese platter which was good I will say, in fact, I would wager it would be worth coming back just for that and some pita bread with wine for a nice aperitivo. But lunch was just ‘eh.’ While I like when people sell themselves as local home cooking(and here had a Crete edge), they have to be good at exactly that, the menu options were ok but nothing to really get excited about. My moussaka was nice enough, I enjoyed it. My husband’s platter of octopus was really a downer. The octopus was really chewy, it felt overcooked and the sauce was nothing special. In fact he didn’t end up finishing the dish because straight up, it wasn’t appetizing. We love ‘polpo’ but it is of the finicky sort. The wine was ok, they don’t have a list yet(or at least when I went) so you’ll need to ask the options and the price. The place has potential but I just was really turned off by that octopus, if you’re looking for greek, there is also a great place on via cavour as recommended by my friend Coral or Curious Appetite, but you can always try this place and decide for yourself.
