It was Saturday evening, around 6 pm. Bit by bit the regulars arrived looking for the Saturday night dinner. Easy to recognize that mostly of the guests were regulars, with the perfect dinner in mind and received by the waiters properly. From outside looks gorgeous, I had seen the pub before, on my way in the bus, but never decided to go in. I went to have a pint. I liked the decoration, classical, and the services was ok, 3 waiters moving fast and keeping the regulars happy. May I will come back to have some food there, the dishes looked deadly. But it will be next time.

The Yellow House is a great well known iconic pub that’s always been very well run. It had a makeover there some years back but I preferred it as it was. Always looks after the church across the road. Nice drinks. Good crowd. Restaurant above is excellent. I even remember a 21 st there 15 years ago in their nice function room on top. Beer garden added for the smokers. Solid pub

I like this iconic pub on the outside, don’t like the inside and love the outside at the back. In other words I keep walking till I get to the beer garden. Nachos for mains(which seem to be all the rage out the back) were ginormous and should be ordered to share. Yeah, it was kind of embarrassing that the table of 6 beside us were sharing one plate and we had the same for one person. Mixed bag in the place of a Saturday, the craft beer crowd seem to venture out the back and the roast dinner mammies and families seem to love the inside. Either way it’s not a bad local.

Average food & coffee poor. I’d say it’s more a evening pint place. Gastro pub with simple menu is way forward for a place like this. Looking at food through steamy glass being slopped onto plate is done & dusted. Needs to step game up

If you are looking for a tasty carvery with choice, then this is the place for you. There is always a decent choice of different meats along with various vegetables and potatoes. I’ve been twice now and enjoyed both times. The food is great value and very good for what it is. I have found the staff very friendly too. The lounge girls checked us both times for dessert and coffee and brought us the order to our table — nice! It’s not fine dining but perfect when you are craving a hearty meal in Pleasant surroundings at a great price. I will be back.

First time in here. Mid week. Pub grub menu. Standard fare. Burgers, curries. Etc. nothing exciting. Décor disappointing given the history of the building. Maybe the restaurant is nicer. Nice lady serving. Given bland food, oap crowd, I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again.

Really nice local pub which does very good«pub grub». Staff are very friendly and helpful, they always come down to check if you are ok for drinks. Always seems to have a crowd in even during the week.

The Yellow House is a historic, landmark, character pub. It is named after the unusual shade of bricks from which it is built and has had its licence since the 1700’s! Imagine that! It is a really warm pub full of historical memorabilia and photos on the walls. It attracts an older more mature crowd than the other big pubs in the area, which isn’t a bad thing at all because everything is so much more chilled, relaxed and friendly. They do a lovely Guinness here and the prices are all pretty standard. The food menu is super and the food itself is top notch and so tasty. They do a great carvery and good early bird specials too. You can eat downstairs for a more casual feed or upstairs in the restaurant, which I am writing about in a separate review!
