We came here the other day to try to get into the free Shaggy concert(why not??). Of course it was packed at the time, but behind all the people milling about it was a really small, classy pub. When we eventually got into their courtyard at the back where the concert was going on, it was also packed but a cute little area to enjoy a pint. Of course, it definitely would have a different vibe sans all the Shaggy-crazed fans, but I had a good feeling about it!

Really great pub. Especially the bar area with the booths is something really special if you aren’t irish because it is something you haven’t seen so far(i guess). Prize for a pint of guinness is 5 €.

Un endroit vraiment sympa, l’ambiance y est vraiment calme et reposante. La terrasse est juste parfaite. Espérez juste né pas vous retrouver un jour de mauvais temps en terrasse, la partie couverte reste petite.

Toners is a mix a many kind of business in the same venue, in the front pub you will find a traditional pub, in the backyard a big beer garden and in the first floor a venue with different proposals like parties and dance floor. It is really interesting that everything in under the same pub, it looks like the owner is working hard to open the pub to new business options. Good for a pint after work and if you are lucky and the weather is nice outside. It is a pity that there is no bar in the beer garden.

An old school pub that serves beer & hard liquor mostly, no cocktails, food or martinis. It’s worth checking out on your visit to Dublin. Prices are competitive compared to other Dublin centre pubs. Beer garden is very cozy, but you probably will only enjoy it if you are a smoker. Positive review, but personally old pub feel is just not for me.

I’m a little biased about Toner’s because it’s actually where my parents met back when they were a young engineer and a young nurse working in Dublin. Still, I can see why they were feeling romantic; this is a gorgeous, classic Dublin pub. Dark, old-fashioned, divided bar seats, a proper snug inside the door, good barmen, and a FANTASTIC pint of Guinness; it’s kind of an institution. I cheesily took my boyfriend here on our first Valentine’s Day(I didn’t tell him about the parents thing, didn’t want to totally freak him out!) and he was delighted to find it a quiet, comfortable place to lounge over a pint. I haven’t experienced the upstairs but it was more than enough to keep me coming back.

Busy! Great atmosphere; absolutely try and get outside into the beer garden(yes, even in march) it’s flood lit(not in a horrible artificial football pitch kind of way, more in a crafty arty string lights way) and has massive outdoor heaters. Also great staff buzzing around taking drinks orders and bringing them out to you. Bit funny that to get into the beer garden you have to go through the pub and out into the street but once you’ve figured out how to get to it the beer garden is definitely the way to go for me! Didn’t spend much time inside but seems to have a good vibe going, nice mix of people and great staff. Nice big picnic style tables outside too which I’m sure would be great for a bit of a chilled out afternoon drink or food(didn’t see the menu so can’t comment on that!)

This place has the coolest beer garden in town. I wouldn’t have thought of myself as seeking out a place with outdoor seating in wet and cold Dublin, but really, it’s worth it. They have heaters all over the place so it makes it okay. Every time I come here, it’s pretty packed, but not in an annoying can-barely-move-getting-pushed way, but just the right amount of people. They have waiters coming to take drink orders, as the bar is inside and you need to go around from outside to get to the inside. The location is pretty good too, as it’s close to other places you can go to after.

Left almost as soon as we arrived. None of the 4 of us were happy with our pints taste-wise. One of my group brought her drink back because there were small specks of dirt floating in it. Bathrooms were dirty and the couches in the smoking area were smelly.

Great Guinness. A real old Dublin pub with original character. And the beer garden out the back is a great suntrap on a fine day.

I’d not reviewed Toners? Unilocal, you having a giraffe? I need to sort this out. One of the first pubs, if not the first pub, I socialised in with work when I first started working in Dublin. It was and remains the quintessential Dublin pub. The main bar is dark with stained wood and panelling. Upstairs is a brighter second bar, which can be used for events and parties. Put down a 60EUR deposit and you can hire it for free. Out the back is Toners newest attraction. One of the best beer gardens in Dublin. Now there is no bar, but there is a team of floor staff that do table service. The last part of my hen party was in here and the staff served us well, very well indeed. I definitely recommend Toners. A Dublin institution.

Been here a few times on various nights. My favourite thing here is the beer garden. It looks really great at night, really spread out and has an undercover bit as well for the rainy nights. The indoor pub is really old school and have attended a function downstairs. It is on the top end of drink prices at 5.60 € a pint. But if you have a large group they will organise some free finger food which is a plus for sure!

It’s a typical and old fashion irish pub… if you like pubs with history inside it and where guinness is great quality, you should go for a pint. I really enjoyed it this place.

Just one of those lovely old fashioned gems — aehmmm — pubs in basically the middle of town. Quite small so I had it before that we didn’t make it in. Another time we got our hands on their famous snug — which for the right reasons is famous — just lovely. This time I came with a friend after an exhibition opening around the corner for a few pints. It was a Thursday evening so it was busy but not overcrowded. The only thing I noticed at some stage that for quite some time I was the only female in there. But that didn’t feel strange — it was just the way it was.

Beer, which by the way is amazing, can be enjoyed outside in there beer garden, in which you can easily fit in a balkan wedding. Great place to go an grow odd thoughts about the society, while you enjoy a beer with some friends at one of the October-fest inspired tables. There is also a small couch/lounge area to claim for early birds.

A great place for a night out with the lads. All of its furniture is very old if not ancient and completely authentic. It is the real Irish-Pub experience that so many places worldwide and even in Dublin try to copy. Toners has places in Temple Bar that are attempting to be like it but these are full of tourists and stag/hen parties. While some pubs in Temple Bar(perhaps named after famous friends of Y.B. Yeats) charge up to € 7.50 for a pint, the cost of the drink in Toners is fairly normal, for Dublin that is. About € 5 a pint. Toners is the real deal and although full every night it is full of Dublin folk out for the night.

Amazing staff, the friendliest in Dublin I would easily say. Excellent beer and great service. The clientele were lovely also, thirties and above was our experience. The place was really busy as Ireland were playing rugby that day. I will definitely go back. Its very authentic and very Irish. Full of locals.

For what it’s worth, I once walked The Baggot Mile with 2 friends, hitting 15 pubs, having a pint of Guinness in each and the general consensus was that Toner’s was the best pint on the strip and possibly Dublin. This qualified opinion was formed several years ago by 3 gratuitously intoxicated individuals, so I went back recently to check and found the same. Toner’s is a gorgeous Victorian pub(snug intact) and has the obligatory amount of literary Dublin anecdotes attached to it: Paddy Kavanagh wrote a poem about a bog, Brendan Behan had a wank in the jacks and Yeats hated working class people etc. Don’t believe me though, try the objectively good pint for yourself.

Their claim of having the best pint of Guinness is pretty hard to dispute. At present, only M. O’Briens has a comparable pint. However, the atmosphere at Toner’s Pub is far more authentic. This is a legitimate Irish pub that serves up outstanding pints of Guinness without fuss or pretense. One gets the sense that the barkeeps here are nearly as old as some of the well worn furniture. Speaking of which, this is the first(and so far only) place I have seen that creates little booths at the bar. This creates a sense of privacy, while still allowing easy access to the barkeep and another perfect pint of Guinness

Claims they pour the best pint and after having an undisclosed number of pints during my week long trip to Ireland, i have to give them the honor of agreeing: TONER’S HASTHEBESTPINTINIRELAND(in the parts that i saw). There was no bitterness and it was as creamy and delicious as I ever imagined the perfect pint to be. There were a few locals sitting up front enjoying beverages together. In the back of the pub there was a television and some very rowdy rugby fans. So rowdy the barkeep more than once went back to tell them to take it easy and then he stood there and watched the game with them. This pub is in the Marrion Row area and is on my list of places I will go back to on my next trip.

Another pub that you will most definitely visit if you are doing the twelve pubs of christmas along the Baggott Mile. I like this pub mainly because I am a fan of the Snug, there is nothing like being in a crowded pub but you have your own individual space to move around in. Upstairs is a function room that I have not heard many people talk about. its really good if you are looking to hire a space(for free i might add) to have a little private party for whatever occasion you can think of! Make one up and invite all your friends i say!
