GREAT place to dine in Dublin, Ireland… It was in walking distance from our hotel, The Shellbourne. I actually ate there twice. The first night my brother & I were out late & hungry and discovered this gem, we enjoyed appetizers and drinks. They service was very fast & friendly. We decided to Go back on our last night in Dublin and I had a delicious salad. Great experiences both times! Check this place out!

I love Doheny Nesbit and am a regular visitor. It is a quintessential Irish pub especially the front section where they still have two little snugs and the original bar from when the pub first opened. They have manged to keep all of the old charm of the pub which has been there since 1860(ish) and the building is now a protected structure. Due to it’s proximity to The Dail it tends to attract members of the legal profession, journalists and politicians but don’t let that put you off — haha ! It is pretty much always busy but especially so at lunch time and on match days. The lunch is really good, super fast and not bad value — I am a big fan of the baked potato. The staff are incredibly friendly and also very efficient If downstairs is too full check upstairs as they also serve lunch up there. They have function rooms upstairs that can be hired for parties.

Respectable and socialite bar where you’ll see generally journalists and politicians. Can make for an interesting few drinks and a few hours. It’s not 4 stars, but it’s not 2 stars, it’s fairly represented by 3 stars! Good drinks. Good Barmen. Could do with a bit more space, but then we might have a few more politicians

We visited this pub at a friend’s recommendation. That’s what friends are for! We originally were just stopping for a pint and ended up staying for wonderful pub food. The bartenders went out of their way to be engaging, even though there was a Rugby match on and they had their hands full. I ate mussels and a dish with both Irish smoked salmon and prawns. My wife had bacon and veggie soup along with Shepherds Pie. Everything was wonderful. A note that we did escape further craziness at the bar by going upstairs to eat. Highly recommend!

Fun pub. Great for games and nights out. The bub is friendly. Serves food. Desserts look awesome. Ask for a glass of water and it comes with lemon. Servers are awesome here. Really enjoy their job and attentive. A solid stop in Dublin any time!

Loved this place — filled with tourists and locals alike. Stays true to its roots with loads of Irish charm. Both times I went they had super fun live music by a pair of old Irish men. Really nice staff, delicious fish & chips, solid Guinness pour.

What a great pub! The best pour of Guinness in Dublin. Go upstairs for the food then stay downstairs for the fun. Many locals gather and you can hear some good conversation. Say hi to Mark, one of the nicest bar tenders I have met.

Great option for a pub in the Stephens Green neighborhood. Helpful friendly staff. Was crowded and noisy, a sign of a good place.

This pub has never been on my list of places to go out but, yeah, I ended up there. It looks like a old and traditional pub. The place is big, the beer price is OK and too warm. Phew. Basically it is a old man’s pub. Antique decoration. That is cool, I like those places too, especially when I am not in a party mood — like that day. It looked like a good place to watch rugby and grab some food, in case you get a table, what seems quite impossible in a Friday night.

Doheny & Nesbitt is a tremendous spot to catch a rugby match, grab a pint and a bite to eat! Everything from the crowd to the food(Fish & Chips), drink and service was spectacular and made for the perfect location to watch Ireland vs Italy in the Six Nations tourney. Quick Tip: The downstairs bar will be jammed come kick off, so try to find yourself a corner upstairs to park yourself for the duration of the match.

Located in the center of town near everything(well. .. not everything) — the Doheny and Nesbitt pub is a great place for a pint and a bite to eat. There is so much history and so many great conversations going on in the nooks and crannies. There are multiple«bars» in the pub and it can be a bit confusing to make your way around — ask for directions. The staff are great and really eager to help. The food is so-so — with the exception of the fish-n-chips. They are great! I loved the fish. It was flakey, light and amazingly delicate. The french fries were some of the best I’ve ever had. Honestly. Really great stuff. One of the best parts of the pub is the fact that they have O’Hara’s Irish Pale Ale on draft. I love O’Hara’s and it is not easily found in all the pubs in Dublin. The long and short of my review — great fish-and-chips, wonderful service and great draft beer.

Enjoyed this pub for a private party event and it was rockin’! We utilized the private L-shaped space on the very top floor. It was perfect for a group of about 40 peeps and we even had space for a DJ! Also, the restrooms were right outside our room so that was very convenient! The space overlooks Baggot Street and was just right for a group of peeps who could mill around our private bar area and chat or make use of the larger floor space for dancing. They also served up a nice platter of chicken strips and potato wedges to absorb all that alcohol intake. Everyone was happy — especially me after five Gin & Tonics… ;) I’d return here to check out the main bar areas and would consider it for a casual private party. Love the steep winding staircase leading up to the top floor… Cheers!

We were looking for a traditional Dublin pub to visit, and thankfully, the Episcopalian priest on the flight in from Heathrow had the perfect suggestion for us. Doheny & Nesbitt was the place for us, he said. We supposed a priest would like a pint as well as the rest of us, so we took a look. Inside it’s all dark wood and ambiance, as you’d expect from a pub which has been around for over a century and a half. The Guiness pour was excellent, as you’d expect, and the football match in the back room added to the celebratory feel of the pub. We were getting hungry and ordered some hot sandwiches which were wrapped in some sort of thin, crinkly heat-resistant plastic and put into some sort of appliance(panini press, pixie-dust powered bar-food heater?) which brought them up to serving temperature. The sandwich was good, but my intellectual curiosity about how it got that was was never satisfied. It’s got a really distinctive vibe that you wouldn’t be able to recreate in a new location. Definitely more of a local’s hangout vs. a tourist spot. I hope it stays that way, should I come back.

It’s a pub. More than that, it’s a Dublin institution. Great atmosphere, great beer and good food. Exactly what you’d expect. I could live here. I think I will.

Always packed to the rafters and hot as hell. Some may like it hot but I find it stuffy and claustrophobic. Still, it’s an institution for the Guinness quaffing rugby crowd, guess they are doing something right.

Drinking downstairs was okay, however, lunch upstairs during the work weeks was great fun and delicious. There is a large bar upstairs with tables all around into two rooms if I remember correctly. The place gets packed with every seat taken during workday lunch. It is very lively with a lot of «atmosphere.» The fish and chips here were the best I had during my time in Dublin. Yum!

«You know, I think there’s a bar upstairs here, too.» «Oh yeah? We could check it out. It’s getting a bit busy in here» You climb the stairs; at the top is a solitary door with a rounded handle. An eerie feeling suggests that maybe you shouldn’t be up here. You hear the noise of the crowd downstairs, reminding you why you made this trek. Maybe, just maybe it will take less than five minutes to get served up here. That memory spurns you into action. You grab the doorknob, turn it and swing the door open. There’s nothing inside. It’s not that there’s nobody here. There’s an actual nothingness on the other side of this door. This void seems to go on forever, unbounded by the walls which enclose it. You step inside and the darkness envelops you; your limbs disappearing before your very eyes. Completely disoriented, terror begins to take over and you consider going back — if you ever can go back. You try and turn to face the direction you came from but as soon as you make that move, you hear a loud snap as you break off from reality. No. Wait. That was the sound of someone turning on the lights. Everyone yells. «Surprise!» It turns out the upstairs is a function room which you can rent out and NOT a doorway into eternal despair. Three stars.
