Don’t go for the food, go for the salsa nights on Fridays, very cool latin atmosphere.

We had the honour of being the first wedding booked into the River Bar and I’m certain we won’t be the last. Every accommodation possible was made for us in order to make the most of our big day. The manager, Pjerin, could not possibly have been more helpful. The table settings, menus, service, etc. were exceptional. The lunch was praised unanimously by the guests. Later, in the downstairs area, we were entertained by a DJ called Craig. This guy knows his stuff. We included karaōke for our night and it was a great success. Craig can sing. I was amazed just how well. He also was very encouraging to others attempting with varying degrees of success to entertain the crowd. The food for the evening was finger food. Their regular platter is amazing but my new wife is Brazilian and wanted to include some Brazilian dishes. This was accommodated too and very impressively. We were invited into the bar a week before the wedding to try the two different finger food platters. My wife’s father has a gastric condition which restricts the kinds of food he can eat. This too was accommodated. This wedding was a great success and if I had the opportunity to do it over I’d change nothing. If you are planning a wedding or just a party in Dublin take a long look at this venue. You can’t possibly get more central. Our wedding itself was one of the smaller ones with only 40 guests for lunch but a lot more could easily have been accommodated. Take my advice and give this place a shot for your next event.

This is a joint that is smack-bang next to my bus stop and does decent wine, has comfy seats and the bar staff know their shiz. A three might seem harsh, especially for a place that I so frequently frequent, but my quality of experiences here shift more than the Irish weather. I have sat with friends overlooking the Liffey and have eaten well-prepared grub that doesn’t break the bank, I have also popped in for a pint to the usually quiet bar, only to see it has been transformed into sweaty cattle market, writhing to the beat of cheesy, loud Latin music. On my most recent visit, I ordered a fried Brie salad… Remembering wistfully my past experiences there of yummy caramelised walnuts goats cheese and balsamic vinegar. Nope. What I actually got was greasy, and I’m not just talking about the Brie, THEENTIRESALADWASGREASY. That’s if you could call a sparse messy handful of lettuce leaves and an odd bit of carrot a salad. Bleugh. That’s the last I’ll ever be eating here.

Went there yesterday… And loved it!!! It was comfortable, good prices, good food, and the LATINMUSIC!!! Proper salsa upstairs and some reggaeton downstairs… It was like being back in My hometown Cali(FYI cali is the salsa capital of the world ;-)

We ordered steak with potatoes, salad and spicy sauce, it was very tasty and the portion was pretty big! Good place to stop by with friends for a quick meal and drink!

my husband and I both had the fish and chips, it was so awful, even the potatoes were inedible. And don’t get me started on the loos… Old decrepit and filthy, and you had to pay an attendant! Oh and there was a band playing, for which our waitress apologized!!!

When I looked this place up on Unilocal,I was a little surprised to see it had only gotten two stars. A little harsh, until I actually tried the food. My husband and I were in town, and we found ourselves with an hour to spare. Initially we intended on getting subway(in hindsight, we should have walked by and kept going) but as we were walking by, I noticed they had a breakfast menu and we decided to check it out. Being the queen of the Irish breakfasts, I know my standards are high, but this was unacceptable. Looking at the choices, I decided the veggie breakfast with a sausage on the side was the way to go. My husband ordered the full Irish. Prices were 6.00 for the veggie and 9e for the full. So average prices, really. The breakfasts are tiny. In fact, the full Irish looked like the mini breakfast served by my local café. There was not enough food to fill you for the morning. Mine came with a sprinkling of mushrooms, a small egg, the teeniest portion of beans I have ever seen and a potato cake. That in itself was weird, but it was burned and seriously lacking in flavour. Toast was cold and there was too much of it. My tea was a great size and the single sausage I had was delicious. I know they’re not open long, but it’s not hard to get an Irish breakfast right. Or at least close to right. The breakfast menu is trying way too hard to impress. Less fancy potato cakes, add chips instead, make the breakfasts bigger and keep the same price. It’s a nice location and the staff are lovely too, it has potential. I won’t be back any time soon however.

Went here for a quick coffee to warm my bones on a snowy windy day. Got my coffee, tasted delish but it was only warm… not hot… I actually had to ask him to heat it up. The guy was shocked it wasn’t that hot but it wasn’t just me because my friend thought the same. Although two of my other friends had lattes and they said they were delish. Service with a smile but I was abit disappointed… Sorry
