While waiting to buy tickets at Jameson’s, I decided to come and have breakfast at Christophe’s just across the courtyard. When you first walk in, it seems quite simple. Lots of dining space and in the centre, a round counter holding a tempting array of cakes and pastries and a hot service, which is where I found my breakfast. I ordered the full Irish, slightly concerned that the food would be less than spectacular-almost like airport food-but I was pleasantly surprised that the food, a fried egg, 2 sausages, a pile of rashers, beans, mushrooms and toast were all fresh and excellent quality. This, added with coffee for € 9.95 was well worth the price! The staff are also very nice and helpful. Very enjoyable and recommended if you’re in the neighbourhood!

Meh. Called in here the other day to get some work done on the aul lappytoppy. When I first entered, I was greeted with what seemed to be a bix of a mixture between confusion and hostility. Mega watt smile flashed, I settled her a little, though the seething was still pretty visible. Not unlike a befuddled dragon. Welcome aside, I was swiftly served my tea(just yer average run of the mill tea bags. I do like some ‘proper’ tea on a Monday, with a strainer and the likes). They have free wifi, and I was left largely alone to do my work without any hassle. Décor-wise, I’d probably call the place pretty impersonal and generic. Industrial lighting and harsh flooring /furniture. Suffice to say, I’m not a fan. If I was privy to a better reception from the staff, my review may have been more favourable, but as it is, I won’t be back.

Unfriendly staff and the food wasn’t that great either. We had scrambled eggs with toast. Very basic for what you pay.(€ 5,95) There was a lot of choice at the dessert buffet, but quite expensive. We won’t go there again!

tucked away across from the jamison distillery, bf and i found ourselves in here after 24hours of traveling and a film of jetlag, travel exhaustion, and pure hunger… as our first meal in ireland, the irish breakfast hit the spot! a good place to stop and eat, esp if you’re looking for breakfast and you’re staying at the maldron hotel: smithfield across the way!

This place has never been open anytime I have come by. Sign says they are open until 22:00 every night through Saturday, I am writing this at 18:00 and they are closed. I have gone by many times and they are not open or just closing. Seems like they’re only doing a lunch service now and have neglected to change their opening times on their signage. Lazy. Get it together, be open or take down the sign.

Christophe’s is a café that I have always wanted to like. I’m a complete salad junkie, and they have a salad bar where you can order a big plateful of «gourmet salads», from broccoli and cheese to shredded carrot. The thing is, the salads watery and rather tasteless, and the food is generally overpriced for what you get. I ordered the soup of the day on another occasion which was similarly lacking in flavour. I’ve met a friend here for lunch a few times and mutually agreed that our experiences were, in one word, bland. They do quiches and stews and big Toulouse sausages too which I admit I haven’t tried. The place is hopping every lunchtime with solicitors and barristers and office workers from the area, so maybe I’ve just been ordering the wrong thing. It gets one more chance…

This place is located right opposite the Jameson Distillery, so it’s in a snug little spot. It has a great outdoor dining area and inside is very spacious with a deep wooden feel to it. They have a great selection of food displayed in a carvery style way. From rustic sausages to a wide variety of salads. They also have wine, beer and various coffees. I had a bowl of the sun-dried broccoli salad(you can get larger portions) and some brown bread and coffee, worked out around € 7. He had a fancy filled bagel and latte. We were both really satisfied, really healthy wholesome stuff. He’s American so when he said, ‘I think this is the best food I have got since I landed.‘ I knew that it’s good. Other highlights are that you are near the luas, the lighthouse cinema and also it’s all pedestrianised so the noise level is bearable.
