They have gone downhill … I was solo but not in a hurry(they tend to be slow) and walked here for a Shanghai lunch. Ordered. a two side crisp noodle wth shrimp and veggie topping and xiao long bao. The noodles were those pre-packaged crunch topped with chop suey with maybe 6 – 7 shrimp! Definitely not Shanghai. The xlb never came. Nothing like what it was in past years! There are plenty of other choices in K11.

You can probably piece this together from the page, but this place is Shanghai style dim sum, so don’t automatically write this place off if you just had Tim Ho Wan yesterday and you’re not in Hong Kong for long. These place is a whole different animal. I would come here pretty often when I would visit my tailor. You can leave very happy and very full for under 120HKD. If you’ve never had Shanghai style Dan Dan Noodles then I highly recommend them. Best ones I’ve had in my seven months in Hong Kong. Also to be recommended are the Shengjian bao and the Xiaolongbao, of course, but for my money you can never beat a good Hongyou Chaoshou, which are admittedly Sichuanese but are still great here. The scallion pancakes are also fantastic. In my(unbearably pretentious) opinion, a good scallion pancake needs to be more like a crisp roti and less like a crispy pizza crust, which is a lesson the scallion pancakesmiths back home in the States could do well to learn. But let’s not let me upset myself further. In summary: definitely worth a visit if you’re staying in Kowloon and you’re here longer than like four days. It’s a slightly uncommon cuisine here in HK and even the most insatiable dumpling fiend will be satisfied with the broad selection and reasonable prices.
