This restaurant offers excellent views of the harbor and skyline, good food, and average service. There is a big menu with a wide variety of Chinese foods. The duck is outstanding as are many of the entrees. The views are good. It is set back a distance from the harbor but you can see enough to enjoy the view. The service wasn’t bad but it wasn’t noteworthy either. I will be back. Recommended.

Food(**** out of *****); The cuisine served here is Shanghainese. The Peking duck is better than anything you’d find in the States, but it is not the best in Hong Kong. The title of the best Peking Duck goes to Empire City Roasted Duck(大都烤鴨). This Peking duck is close, though. There’s a bit of fat under the skin that they haven’t melted away and the Chinese tortillas are thicker and not as delicate. The squab in wine sauce is special. Other restaurants serve meats cooked in wine sauce but prepare it with a cheaper rice wine. This place uses a nice plum wine with a deep, complex flavor. The veggies are the normal veggies cooked in garlic that most Cantonese restaurants have on the menu. The sweet and sour fish is better than the sweet and sour nightmare you’d find in the States, because the sauce is made from fresh fruits instead of sugar syrup. However, it is not the best in Hong Kong because some places serve this same fish dish with a crispy skin. Chao Yang’s version has skin that was not crispy, even though the fish was pan fried. The desserts are also normal and nothing to write home about, but still good. Atmosphere(***** out of *****); Great view from the top of the world overlooking all of Hong Kong harbor. Service(***** out of *****); Waiter teams of 2 waiters will check up on you often. Conclusion(***** out of *****); Great service, great view, and really good food. This is a great place to take a first date. Be sure to book a reservation as they get really packed at night during dinner time.
