Just a terrible lounge. The idea is that this is a place to refresh after your flight. Firstly, it is only convenient if you are taking a bus to mainland China. Secondly, they have 8 shower rooms and when we arrived we were number 10 in queue. That somehow increased to ‘about 11′ and after an hour we were still number 8! The harried staff said ‘it is always busy in the morning’(it was 7:15am when we got there). We gave up and left. Honestly, unless you are really stuck for other options, just forget it. They did have some simple food items available but limited seating space. I am rating on the fact that the basic value of this service is to quickly freshen up after a flight and that is just not possible.

Arriving early in the morning after a long-haul flight from the US, the one thing you really want to do before you start your day is to take a shower. After going through immigration and customs, you walk through the main arrivals area and down the hall where you come across The Arrival(the Cathay/oneWorld arrivals lounge). It was a very busy morning when I arrived and there were 15 people already in the queue for the showers. It wasn’t much easier to find a place to grab some juice and a small breakfast as there were only two seats available in the whole place. Rather than waiting for 15 other weary travelers to take long showers and shave, I skipped out on the whole process and made my way to my hotel(where I was able to take a nice, hot shower). Not quite a fail on the part of The Arrival, but not nearly what I was expecting.

The Arrival Lounge is a the perfect place to go after an overnight red-eye flight and a good place to freshen up or catch up with work/emails before going into town, where you’re most likely not able to do much. This lounge also has food which seems to share the same kitchen/catering as the nearby Plaza Premium Arrivals Lounge. The selling point is that if you’re a Marco Polo Gold /Diamond, or First/Business passenger — then you have a place where you can grab a quick snack(while waiting for the showers which can be a long wait), and hope that you also get a seat here. The unique thing about this lounge is that it is the only lounge where you can’t guest anyone in(a good thing because space is very limited). And you have to either have an arriving boarding pass. This lounge also caters for long transit passengers too, but I wouldn’t bother hanging out here. Just go to the other 5 – 6 lounges in the departure/secure area instead. For long transit people, you can actually leave your bags here and hit the town(I haven’t done this personally, but I heard you can).
