Subway offers a(typically) quick sandwich option on HKU’s campus. They have a $ 256″ sandwich + drink«sub of the day» combo special for those watching their budget. They used to advertise this special but have hidden it recently, so ask. By default, this subway(and perhaps all subways in Hong Kong?) toast their sandwiches, greatly slowing down the process.(I have flashbacks to my Quiznos rage in the US from their crazy-slow toasting oven) Tip: If you are looking to move more quickly in the line, do not get your sandwich toasted.

Subway is probably one of the fastest dining options you can go for at HKU. As in it’s quick to eat, but definitely not quick to get. At lunchtimes, the line stretches a mile long and it seems like the entire school population has decided to get Subway for lunch today. The subway counter isn’t a big one and can only accommodate so many servers, so the line doesn’t move very fast. Subway is located in the main building near the Run Run Shaw Tower. It’s that strip where lots of promotional counters for different societies are and is right opposite the HSBC ATMs. It’s pretty well located, in my opinion, just a two or three minute walk from the library. There are no tables and chairs at Subway, so you are forced to take away your sandwich. Most people bring them to the benches near the old university bookstore, or just eat them while walking to their next class. There are even people who bring their Subways INTO class, which I hate because I dislike smelling their food and hearing them chew. There is really nothing remarkable about this Subway, so to speak. They have set sandwiches, or you can build your own. As it is in the university, prices are wallet friendly and will not cost you much at all. What it does cost, however, is your time spent lining up!
