I tried one of their pizzas and their pastas. We also shared their calamari. All in all, the portions were small but it also didn’t taste very good so we couldn’t finish the tiny portions. The flavours were not on point. Some of it was either too bland or it was just hard to digest. The calamari was the only acceptable part of the night. The service was also very sterile. No smiles and sometimes we were even ignored.

Really great pizza, importantly, cooked in a wood fired pizza oven. Chicken wings also excellent, very succulent and tasty.

The opening of the new Kennedy Town is only going to bring more traffic to the area, and I noticed this coming to the area, the place is usually dead but it was jam packed today. Good sign as Piccolo is one of the better pizza place in town and I’m happy to see them doing well. The place is by the k– town Harborside, a pretty chill spot where you can sit there with a beer, plus or minus food. They serve decent casual Italian fare, with a special focus on pizzas, which are flame roasted out of their very own brick oven in the back. One pizza is 11 inches and a guy– girl combo should be able to finish no problem. Five of us orderd two pizzas(four seasons and pancetta), a pasta(salsiccia) basket of wings and a salad. Two of us ordered soft drinks and it came to a total of Hkd 760. Not cheap for a lunch but food is ok la! And may I mention they have really fresh chilli flakes — there is a pretty good kick in them! Fyi pizza is Hkd 145 each

Western and Kennedy Town has always been a favourite with single urbanites looking for easy access to Central and a cosmopolitan lifestyle. This was further elaborated after the Merton was built offering more flats to single expats and couples. With this combination it was only natural for a new hive of restaurants and bars to be opened here. Piccolo is one of some 4 – 5 shops that line the street directly opposite the Merton; all of which are restaurants, bars and a fine meats butcher. Piccolo fits into the scene really well being an Itallian restaurant and the décor also tries to trick you into thinking that you were anywhere else in Hong Kong. The shop itself is quite small but if you look into the back you will know why the kitchen is so big– their industrial sized brick oven that keeps baking up piping hot pizza. Out front the first few tables are more for people having a quick drink and in the back are where diners want to be. The menu isn’t huge but it is a case of quality over quantity– you won’t find any new fangled pizzas like you do at Pizza Hut but more of the traditional Margaritas(Quattro-formaaggio) and marinara spaghettis. There are some salads to choose from all of which should accompany your meal very well. On my visit I saw a lot of diners bringing their own wine– the restaurant seemed pretty happy to cater for that(yes, corkage applies) and the atmosphere is quite relaxed in general. getting here is easy with the tram and bus stops nearby, there is a line of metered parking spaces out front too. With the Kennedy Town’s famed seaside just steps away this is a place that should fit both the locals and out of towners.
