Really good and quick lunch in K-roll. We took the japanese chicken burrito. It was freshly prepared in front of us, the chicken was tasty and crispy, full of vegetables. Yummi!

This is the original K Roll. They have Korritos, bibimbap, k bowls as well as odeng. I ordered the odeng, which is quite a rarity. Japanese odeng is more common. The Korean one is quite similar but spicy. There are some seating in the restaurant, but quite cramped.

A fast food Korean-Japanese Fusion kind of place. Fills the tummy but I was surprised how fast the order came out. It occurred to me that they probably pre-make all the rolls and just pull it out of the fridge when it’s ordered. I guess this makes sense for the business but I’d still like some food that is freshly made. For a quick, hurried bite, this is the place to go! Theres not too much sitting space but everytime I go, no one seems to sit down.

I always walk by this place, and haven’t tried this even though I’ve known about it for over a year! Well, today was the day! I finally came here with my team to pick up some K-ROLL. I got the tofu spicy corrito, and it was to, to my surprise, really good! I was quite surprise and will definitely be visiting more :)

Quick lunch takeaway — the Box sets are the best in my opinion, you get a little chap-chae, kim chi, rice, and meat of your choice. Good if you are needing a korean food fix.

***KIMBAPFANATICALERT*** First of all, I love Kimbap, one of the best food inventions ever. Although the flavours are a bit more localized, I still love coming to K-Roll for my kimbap cravings. All of the food is pretty descent, however my favourite and go do dishes are still the kimbaps and the Odeng Tang. Really hits the spot for lunch.

K Roll is at the top of my list for a rapid lunch. Of course, it helps that it’s literally thirty feet from my office, but it’s more the stockpile of Kurritos(Korean burritos) that I’m referring to — you can literally be in and out of there in thirty seconds. I personally prefer the katsu(breaded, fried, pork chop) kurrito($ 62)which comprises of slices of pork, mixed shredded vegetables(red cabbage, lettus, carrot, peppers), rice and sea weed. They by no means set the world on fire, but you feel like you’re getting a pretty well balanced meal with a decent level of nutritional value. It’s a shame they don’t include avocado in the kurritos however. Obviously, there are healthier options than the pork but given the portion size(fine but not excessive), I don’t feel the need to be too hard on myself. Kurritos are the perfect desk food as they require no cutlery and can be eaten with one hand for those so busy they need to keep typing. Also on offer are options such as bimimbap and rice bowls — you just choose your topping(chicken, fire chicken, shrimp, pork, beef, veg or tofu) and leave the rest to the cooks. In my opinion, the fire chicken is just too spicy to be enjoyable but the other options are all tasty enough. My biggest problem with K-Roll is their insistence on putting your roll into a plastic bag when they are easily small enough to carry in hand. Without fail I end up gruffly insisting on them taking back the bag and reusing it, even if I’ve stressed that I do not want one in the first place when ordering. All in all, K-Roll is a fine and reasonably priced option for a quick bite but the food(or décor) by no means sets the world on fire.

Like I mentioned in another review, I’ve never really enjoyed Korean food up until last year so it took quite some convincing to get me through the doors of K-Roll. I think the line that pushed me over the edge was, «It’s like a kebab… except made of sushi!» And I love sushi. As you’d predict I jumped in in a flash to see if this statement was really true, and it to my heart’s delight it was. It’s called the K-Roll and they do it with different meats and i think a vegetarian option. As much as I’d like to be a vegetarian my will power and selfishness get in the way. I tried the Tuna K-Roll. It was a healthy snack much enjoyed. I left somewhat satisfied, yet not completely full. I was, however, over the moon at finding a place that sold sushi kebabs — I’m sure not a single Korean foodie will be happy with my description, and for that I apologize. The second visit was altogether more successful. I went for a Korrito, which, if you can’t guess by it’s name, is a Korean version of the burrito. As I ordered, a man entered from the kitchen smiling, one of those cheeky smiles. He asked if I wanted to try the new hot chicken flavor. With a smile like that I knew I should have said no… but he looked so happy I had to say yes. It was a little bit more expensive than a k-roll, but not painfully so — around the $ 70 mark — and because of such I expected a little more food. I was correct, it was bigger than the k-roll but would still fall into the big snack category, or small main. You know when people watch you eat something spicy, waiting for the expression on your face to erupt, that it’s going to be painful. Surprisingly it wasn’t, it was delicious and crunchy. A little bit on the hot side but I didn’t like anyone know it effected me. Instead I nodded my thanks, backed a few paces then strode briskly to 7 – 11.
