They had me at the get-go. I wandered up the Ladder Street steps and saw happy people within, and my curiosity led me to their front door atop the stairs and, upon entry, to be welcomed to wander the subterranean space that is curiouser and curiouser. Live DJ spinning bluesy-jazzy stuff, modern art, inviting bar, perfect ambiance… I asked to see the menu to qualify the place for a business dinner the next night. Kitchen had finished lunch service but they offered to serve me at the bar. Perfect burger… the condition precedent to being deemed a decent bar. I made a res for dinner that night to test it out. Lyons(France) service with more than a smile — knowing and witty. My kind of place. Dinner was excellent. Made the important res for the following evening, insisting on the same service. Got it, in spades. Our foursome was thrilled with the evening in all respects. I would, and will, return whenever I am in HK. Fantastique.

Very cool setting although we felt the felt the tables were a little too close together. Food was very good & service was first rate. We had the four course set menu which was delicious and well designed. We will be back…

A very unique entrance design that confused me because it’s simply a solid golden door(which turned out to be automatic), no signs or indication of what’s behind it. But once you found your way down its graffiti-painted staircase you will be amazed by the rich décor, funky furnishing and numerous contemporary artworks all over the place. It was nearly empty when we visited at lunch although it’s adjacent to a quite busy area around Man Mo Temple. Our 3-course set lunch that comes with free-flow juice/coffee/tea was reasonably priced at $ 380(+10%). We were served decent, well-presented French cuisine. The lobster ravioli I had for my main was remarkable, the rest was fine. Overall I had a comfortable, satisfying experience.

I had lunch here and I’m looking forward to coming back. When I was reading up on Bibo, I was a bit unsure as I read about how much dinner can cost. Lunch is much more affordable and if it’s your first visit, I’d recommend trying lunch first. FOOD Everything was nicely presented and satisfying. I enjoyed everything. ART Well there is definitely enough art to satisfy most cravings. This is good news since I’m sure that the art display is the main draw for Bibo. You can also expect an occasional rotation of the art. LOCATION It’s not that obvious where their entrance is. My best tip is that there should be a nicely dressed guy standing outside.

Anything less than a SIX star would be unfair. Ok I knew there was some sort of French restaurant down the Ladder Street(of course they didn’t have a proper sign there). I knew there’s a restaurant on Hollywood Road that my friends had been recommending to me. I didn’t put two and two together, which was a nice surprise when I was there. Stood at the front door for 30 seconds figuring out how to open the door, we found the button 5 seconds before it was too embarrassing. Pretty neat by the way, blended well with the rest of the street. Greeted by the staff leading down the stairs, «Obey the Giant» was there staring at you making you feel very excited already. Oh and there was a mini sculpture from Koons, a skull by Hirst, a wall print of Le Fifre by Manet(which I suspected to be from Banksy), a graffiti by André, and the Princess Peach by The Invader. A few calligraphy graffiti by Tsang Tsou Choi 曾灶財 even. If you love arts, you will fall in love with this place already. You’d have noticed how the restaurant and the menu were inspired by La Compagnie Generale Francaise de Tramway, the original company resided at this very same address at 1930s. They didn’t oversell it though, so it was a nice touch to have. We had a 5 course dinner menu to share and a daily special. Foie gras, slow-cooked eggs with crab cake, red snapper, etc. They were all way too good but as they keep rotating the dishes, it wouldn’t be the most helpful telling you how they tasted anyway. Trust your servers’ recommendations, if anything helps.(Looking back I don’t even think I’ve ever rated any restaurant six stars just because of the food). What was worth the extra start was service here, which was top notch to say the least. Both myself and my partner noted that they had two different servers to recommend to us the food and the wine respectively, and each of the dishes was served by a different server. We kept looking at the arts around us during the dinner, and a server came by and offered to give us a short intro to each of the arts(which we eventually didn’t have the time, but that’s beyond the point). We also casually chatted up with the last server who served us the dessert. He asked if it’s any occasion we chose to have a dinner here, and we answered, «Yeah, not a biggie but just a cheeky celebration of [something personal].» He later, as a surprise, gave us extra set of sweeties with a candle and the«Happy [something personal]!» written on the dish. We went over the moon. Will definitely come back, maybe to try their branch some time. (And if the manager sees this review, please let me know if Le Fifre was Banksy’s work!)

I was drawn to Bibo from seeing the artwork as I walked passed the window. It’s an incredibly interesting place with unique décor(I’m a big fan of invaders art). The food is expensive but it’s a real taste sensation. Go for a special occasion and you won’t be disappointed.

Did a great dinner here. It gave me another fine-dining experience — not just elegant and classy it could be punk and fun! All waiters and waitresses are friendly and efficient at anytime. Food was average compared to other fine dining places, it could be better. Well, I must compliment the sommelier ! He recommended us a good temperature bottle of wine from France! Well done and luv it with exact wine awake

This place was pretty amazing, in particular the décor. Decked out in mainly street art — KAWS, Banksy, D*Face, Invader to name a few along with others like Damien Hirst and Basquiat, this restaurant has enough eye candy to satisfy any fan of art. We went for lunch and opted for the more affordable 2 and 3 course options as we were there mainly for the art. The food, at least what we ordered that time, was also enjoyable.

Ah Bibo, what an interesting experience you bring to the people of Hong Kong. A restaurant and urban art gallery mixed together to bring you a taste of modernity style cuisine. I went there with my date on Saturday evening. We went to the bar first as we arrived much earlier than our reservation time. I had my usual Vieux Carré, one of my favorite cocktails while my guest had Corpse Reviver. Drinks were delis dee-lish! Perfect in taste and in presentation. I had drinks at Bibo before but the Vieux Carré is probably my favorite. We ordered some bar snacks: pomme boheme and Mac ‘n Cheese. Pomme Boheme tasted good but too few pieces were provided(its a take on a kid’s dish and brought back my childhood in Paris). We were quickly provided a table. The staffs are super super friendly. The manager Arturo is very knowledgable and make sure our time at Bibo was great. I opted for the Tasting Menu with Wine Pairing(1588 + 990 each) to get a full sense of what Bibo was about. Almost every dishes were prefect. I was a bit disappointed with the kobe tartare as i thought it had too much sauce(tasted heavily of ketchup) but everything else was superb. I especially liked the Foie Gras tucked into a Chinese cabbage life with chicken soup poured into the dish. A nice fusion touch there. I had a champagne tasting to accompany the food while my date had wine. both excellent choices. 2 dessert to end it and a compliment to the chef/staff makes for a good night. The bill came out to about 5600HKD for two so its a bit expensive compared to going to a Michelin restaurant but i have no doubt Bibo will get its own star soon. It was truly an experience with attention to detail and being submerged in a dinning setting full of amazing art. I’m not sure i would pay that much again at Bibo but the tasting menu is something to experience at least once. PS: the door is located on hollywood road and is a bit hidden as there are no signs pointing to Bibo. Its a bit underground like the art i suppose.

What a visual and savory treat! Since my company has been doing fairly good so our boss decided to give us a treat and asked us to pick a place(maybe he should not have — on second thought); and of course we picked this crème de la crème. This place was rather difficult to locate as its entrance on Hollywood Road was kind of obscure and surprisingly there was no signage but a gold and blue doorway. We would have totally missed the entrance had the staff at the door not told us this was the place we were looking for. The moment we walked inside and we were surrounded with all the arts hanging on the walls and the paintings everywhere. As the dinning section was located a floor down, we followed the staff and walked down the stairs passing through bar section. And everything just got even better once you reached the centre. There were so much detail in everything. For example, the tables carefully crafted and even the plates had their own design on them. I am especially impressed with the outfit the staff were wearing — kind of retro and funky. As for the food, we all ordered set lunches as they were only around $ 238 to $ 300(depending on how much courses you wanted). Personally my pick was scallops with corn as the scallops were all nicely seasoned. Drinks there were overall reasonably priced as well. Make sure you bring your camera with you as this one will not disappoint you at all!
