I wanted to really love this place with it being the ultimate farm to table concept, however service was so bad to the point where my boyfriend and I constantly had to try to get the waiters attention as they completely seemed to have forgotten about us during our entire dinner there. Seriously from the beginning to the end. Anyhow besides that I did love the vibe, the décor is awesome, very rustic and works perfectly with the concept. While we were there the sun was setting and it just bathed the entire place in the most gorgeous glow! We decided to go for the 3 course price fix meal which is a really great deal! All the dishes were delicious and one could taste the freshness of all the ingredients. All in all the food definitely made up for the lack of service and I would love to come back and experience it again but this time with more attention.

FINALLY made it to the legendary urban farm in Rotterdam for dinner. It’s a couple metro stops out and a 10 minute walk, but worth the commute. The attached mini retail market has products from the on-site farm and also some hand chosen additions from other local sources. The dinner was great and exceeded expectations. For € 32 you get a prix fixe meal served family style with a combination of vegetarian and fish/meat dishes. The cool part is that you get several dishes per course — we got 6 different dishes included in this meal! The wine list seemed good — we got a bottle for € 18. I’ll definitely be back, especially in the summer.

Lets pretend it is summer shall we?! The sun is shining and you feel like riding your bike. But hang on. the cycling made you thirsty and now you fancy a bite to eat. If you are heading in the right direction you will find Rotterdam’s biggest urban farm UITJEEIGENSTAD. Pretty fabulous this place; a green oasis in a raw, industrial part of the city. Look left and you will see fields of fresh vegetables, herbs and edible flowers, look right and youll see the old docks and the remains of what used to be a fruit harbor. Once inside the white fluffy cat will welcome you and lead you to a rustic, modern restaurant. An open kitchen with a grand stone oven, tables in untreated wood and a HUGE tree-size table in the middle. In the corner lights the woodburner where you can hang on the sofas with some drinks. The menu is simple, with pure ingredients straight from the land. Delicious… What they don’t have is locally sourced, including the cheese, meat and fish. Eco minded or not, this place is a ride. Before you get back on your bike, shop your own fresh goodies from their shop or if you are tempted, pick it yourself

Amazing experience! I made a day trip to Rotterdam this past weekend, and the highlight of the trip was dinner at Uit Je Eigen Stad, which translates to ‘From your own city’. They mean it. Situation on a little farm at the edge of the city, you would not expect to find some of the best food here, but that’s exactly what you get here. The interior is very ‘gezzellig’, and it is a lot of fun to experience the food being cooked right in front of you. The menu isn’t fixed, which means you are only served the freshest stuff possible. I really liked the ‘service with a smile’ attitude of the staff. Our meal consisted of fresh bread, delicious soup, and a very tasty pumpkin risotto, which was followed up by a really delicious dessert that I had no space left for. Tip: Call them up before hand to get the name of the tram stop right in front of the farm, as they have their own private entrance near it that doesn’t show up on any maps service. All in all, a wonderful restaurant where I wouldn’t mind spending the entire day.
