Have just returned from dinner here and it was great! Amazing burgers, great atmosphere and lovely waiters make it a wonderful evening out. You can see why they have won numerous best burger awards! The option to have some of the burgers in a ladies size is a great idea too! Definately reccomend!

Ter Marsch has one of the best burgers in town, which isn’t saying much. The first problem is that they fall apart when you are half way through with them. So if you are expecting not to make a mess, think again, because by the time you are finished with your burger you will likely have Ter Marsch sauce or Truffle sauce covering your hands and mouth. I would not recommend a date here. The other problem is that the burgers have too much sauce. Both the Ter Marsch sauce and the Truffle sauce are very rich and they completely coat the burgers in it. When you eat you can’t taste much other than the sauce. My final complaint is the price, be prepared to drop at least 20 dollars here if you want a good meal. I would recommend Ter Marsch only if you are desperately craving a burger in Rotterdam otherwise I would avoid burger joints.

Burgerorgasm anyone… Oh my I just had one… and it’s lingering along nicely with a side of 2014 Spanish Granache red wine… I had the Burgeresse who just happened to have been crowned to the Dutch Hamburger 2015… and my did I found out why. The patty is thick juicy and cooked to perfection with a mix between Angus and Waguyu beef .the bread big bold and brioche like to soak up all the juices, lackered with a beef jus covered with Pancetta and cheese finished with truffle mayo and tomatoes and lattuce. They give you a throw away bib because eating this burger politely is not an option neither would I want to do that… it was a lot to handle but as with men… the. bigger …the better hhhh. And then the fries crispy with truffle mayo mmmmm… the Granache prevails still after three glasses. That and the smiles of the serving staff that know their wines doesn’t hurt either… Ter Marsch I salute you, Cheers and bonne appetite!

The burgers here really do deserve their accolades! Love that they are served in a brown bun(proper bread!). The fries are worth ordering on the side too, super lekker! Really lovely, friendly staff too so the whole experience is a good one.

’twas about a week ago that I perched upon a high chair at the lovely Ter March & Co, with full intent to read my book Stoner by John Williams(the writer, not the composer). Sometimes you just get in these moods where you want to sit somewhere quietly, never to worry about an empty glass or stomach and just read. A slight drizzle coming down from the clouds I gazed upon the menu and to my delight saw the Pulled Pork Berkshire Duke BBQ, served on white flute bread with Chinese cabbage«releche-pickle»(relish) and a horseradish sauce. The combination of these flavours piqued my interest since I’m quite the fan of pulled pork and I most certainly love the use of horseradish with the sweeter types of meat. So, I said to myself, let’s give it a go! It was served very elegantly, wrapped in a thin piece of paper, held together by a small string as to make sure it didn’t cool off on its way to my high table outside. The quality of the meat was superb, it melts in your mouth and leaves a rich and slightly sweet taste. The relish-pickles add a zesty touch to the flavour but the horseradish sauce really did it for me. It lifts the dish up to a more sophisticated version of the general pulled pork sandwich you can get at other places. The creamy richness of the sauce works really well with pork and gives it a soft touch but what horseradish does so brilliantly is that it adds heat, a bit of a nose hit that you also get from a good mustard(think a Grey Poupon Dijon mustard). A delightful sandwich, so seemingly easy yet so elegantly executed. Full of flavour and a sauce that will surprise you! Back to my book it was, as the rain seized, the clouds parted and I decided to have some Affligem beer before I started on my burger. I always find it tricky to eat a burger in a restaurant because it’s truly a hit or miss. You can have an amazing burger where the meat shines or you can have a runny piece of bread that tastes like fried cheese and tomato-ketchup. This was obviously the prior. I went for the Burgeresse(Winner of the Best Burger in The Netherlands 2015) 200gr. which consists of Scottish Angus/Wagyu, Spanish onions, cheese, pancetta and their own sauce. To start off; if you eat a burger anywhere, the best thing to do is just grab it firmly(don’t squeeze too hard though) and tilt it to the side. If you then bear witness to the creation of an ocean of grease, water and whatnot on your plate; get ready for a a bad one. This one, however, was perfectly cooked. A total of perhaps 6 drops of juice fell on the plate which means the burger had a good resting period after being fried; a sign of a chef who knows his meat! The cheese was a very good pick with this burger, it added saltiness and a punch to the flavour sensation but did not overshadow the meat. The pancetta is of course a great addition to the burger together with the onions and makes it more than just a big chunk of great meat on a bun, it keeps it fresh and savory. Now with all this came some home-made fries that you can have with either garlic mayonnaise or truffle mayonnaise. I went for the truffle since that is a guilty pleasure of mine and even ordered an extra cup of mayonnaise because come on it’s truffle. Best burger in The Netherlands? I cannot be the judge of that but it was most certainly the best burger I’ve ever had in a restaurant(and I frequent quite a few of those!). Meanwhile the staff was very pro-active, they didn’t rush me when I finished my drinks but they gave me a good 10 minutes after each beer and then asked whether I had wanted another; a great sign with waiting staff is that you don’t notice them when you don’t need them but they’re there when you do, and that’s the feeling they gave me. Very polite, always asked me how my beers/sandwich/burger was and the speed was great! No wonder this place was busy as a beehive on a Wednesday. The food is absolutely amazing, simple rustic yet elevated to a more refined and sophisticated dish, the staff is attentive and quick, what more can I say? I finished my book, sad that it was done, but happy that I got to read it under such delicious circumstances. I shall be back for more soon!

There are days like today when you wake up, and crave custom designed delicious Hamburger with XXL burger bun… well Ter Marsch & Co at the Witte de wit straat was the place that fulfilled my Hamburger Craving today. Is was called the Ter Marsch Grande! Scottish Angus beef, lettuce, tomato, pickle, grilled Spanish onion(Delicious!) and truffle mayo! Joined by fries and truffle mayo on the side… mmmm! It was like a dream come true! My girlfriend and I grade the burger an 8.0. We would of given it a higher grade, but We were not sold with the Pancetta in our Hamburger. Other than that we found it to have, Good and fast service, a small cozy place with almost perfect lighting, clean restrooms, not to large selection of beer though :-( We will be visiting Ter Marsch soon again ;-)

Good burgers even by USA standards. Great servers. Noisy but fun. Anticipate a wait unless you sit outside when it rains or get lucky and catch a bar stool

The past few years the Netherlands have taken on one of America’s most popular food trends: the gourmet burger. And as Rotterdam became the epicenter of this culinary craze, Ter Marsch decided to step up to the batter’s box and take a swing at the fast ball called ‘gourmet burgers’. And they hit a home run. Having tried many different burgers, both in the Netherlands as well as in America, I can confidently say that Ter Marsch has one of the best. The ‘Burgeresse’ is a meaty masterpiece on brioche bread, consisting of two types of meat, classic condiments and a secret sauce. It’s not a surprise that Ter Marsch won the prize for Best Burger of the Netherlands with this burger. Ter Marsch is named after the butcher shop who resided in this very location a long time ago, and the restaurant’s interior design is also based on that. However, as most butcher shops aren’t made to house many guests other than dead stock, this place too is rather small. As a result you will probably have to wait 15 to 30 minutes before you can get seated. However, it is worth the wait, and in the meantime you can enjoy a beer at the bar.

Love this place. Friendliest staff I have experienced in Rotterdam so far. Burger with trufflemayo is award winning(literally) and delightful. It is a place I will bring all of my friends when they come to visit us.

Walking past Ter Marsch & Co. you might do a double take ”wasn’t my favourite snack bar Spooky’s located here?!” Well it was and it has left a hole in our hearts ever since. But Ter Marsch & Co is doing quite the job filling that void, in an even more delicious way! It’s bringing foodies what they want: satisfying food at a price you can’t beat with a fun atmosphere. The menu is designed for meat lovers especially: the burgers are mouthwatering yet classic combinations. Their pulled pork sandwich comes with a twist of horseradish and will become your favourite item to order in no time. They kept the interior simple but brightly lit as it is a small restaurant. Of course there is no comparing the former snack bar to this sophisticated joint. They even have a night license so who knows: you could be having your french fries with truffle mayonnaise after drinking a couple of beers on de Witte de With.
