Super tasty ! But pretty expensive, also a hassle peeling the prawns yourself but damn it was a good meal.

Can spare-ribs and shrimps be in the same soup? Yes, they can! I found them in the Bún riêu soup, a spicy soup with noodles served with some veggies in this Vietnamese restaurant in the Witte de Withstraat, the hipster street of Rotterdam. It was a great soup! Vivu has soft lights, wooden tables and the staff is very helpful in explaining the menu(only in Dutch) and the recipes. It was Saturday 9:30pm, we were six and we had no reservation. We waited for 10 minutes, fair enough! Small weak point: there aren’t many dishes for vegetarians(3 or 4 in total), even though my friends appreciated them a lot.

Great Vietnamese place! I’m not an expert in the cuisine but the flavours are really good. As said before the Bun Bön Hieu is spicy but amazing. Everybody else in the group enjoyed their dishes too. One limited factor: the vegetarian menu is very limited, but from what I understood from some people in the group the few vegi dishes available were good and tasty. It isn’t super cheap but you won’t spend too much.

Vivu is wonderfully unassuming from the outside. Inside it’s warm and inviting, with a quiet atmosphere that complements their cuisine. Vietnamese food is primarily know for it’s freshness and here Vivu does not disappoint. Caramel pork perfectly trod the fine line between sweet and savoury, the rich caramelised sugar offset by the right balance of fish sauce. Chilli beef was served with fresh, crisp spring rolls, accompanied by fresh, lightly steamed vegetables. Both dishes were just the right side of filling and mains for two with drinks came in at a very reasonable 36 Euros. If you are looking for something different from the usual Thai and Cantonese food then Vivu comes heartily recommended.
